NWR-WinFixer

NWR-WinFixer

Okay so my laptop at home has been ridiculously slow and takes forever to load things, and its typicall very fast. So I've been getting these popups for WinFixer, I have McAfee, lots of antispywares, so it blocks it from downloading, but the popups are still coming steadily. I went to geekstogo.com and got some info and starting cleaning it before work this morning. But its still running slow and I was not on long enough to see if they were still popping up. Any suggestions, help, or sites to check on.

I found WinFixer when I googled it and apparently it said that no virus scanners and securities can detect it. Any help Much appreciated!!! TIA Nina

Nina,

I have the same problem this week. WinFixer keeps popping up. My brother works on computers and he said I have a virus on my computer through the internet. Everytime i go on the internet, it shuts me down. Errr. It's annoying. I need to get my computer updated with a Norton AntiVirus '06. I hope this helps.

I will keep you posted with further information.

OK Will try this AGAIN.

This is Ant (btw) and I hope this helps.

You seem to have spyware on yoru computer which is staring up when you boot your computer. You need to find the program that is causing this and turn it off so you can delete it.

Befor eyou do anything, I would set a restore point so you can always undo everything done (just in case it goes wrong - I once had something that was connecting itself to my browser somehow and when i deleted it, I could not get online).

So the first step, go to majorgeeks.com and download this very good and free program.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_d4191.html

Download it, set it up and use it! I have it and it is great. It has 3 tabs, you will basically be using 2 unless you want to delete programs which is the 3rd. So you basically use the main tab (the cleaner) to clean up your drive. It will get rid of junk quick and easy. Then go to the 'issues' and and fix anything that is wrong.

Hopefully you McAfee or Norton installed on you computer. Update the Dat files and scan your drive. It may be able to find the program and clan / delete/ quarantine it for you.

If you are running XP, go to START > RUN > type MSCONFIG > go to Startup and see what is being loaded at start up. You can see that some are safe (like AOL) but other will be more confusing. You can google the stuff and get a desription of it. If it is bad, turn it off and apply changes and reboot your computer.

Qucik question, is it a windows message (like it is supposed ot belong?). If so, turn off windows messenger.

I also use Yahoo Toolbar - Spyware. It helped a little.

Some other programs that may help you...

This site is VERY safe! you can see if it free or if there is charge easily - use the FREEEWARE stuff. they are just as good.
