NWR: Wisdom Teeth

My wisdom tooth is breaking through my gums and its killing me. I hate dentists and Im terrified. Who has had their teeth taken out? And how long does it take to recover?? Im hoping my cheek doesnt blow up by Tuesday (my e-pics).

OH NO!!! I have had 3 of the 4 out. Because of my age and the closeness of the tooth to the nerve, they will only take them out as they irritate me. Recovery is different for everyone. My first one took over a week and my eye was black and blue b/c it was so impacted, but the last two weren't bad. PLEASE TAKE THIS ADVICE. Do what they tell you to minimize swelling. Keep ice on it 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off for the FULL 24 hours. It REALLY keeps the swelling almost unrecognizable. The first time I didn't and it swelled SOOOO bad.

I had all four removed at once, it took a few days to recover...when are you going to have them removed? If your pics are tuesday, I would say wait until after you take them...you just might look like a chipmunk!

Also, I'm petrified of needles and dentists, so i was completely put out for every tooth.

Oh... and a few tips that I found out AFTER the fact:
-don't eat anything hot
-don't drink through a straw (sucking motion is bad...)

That happened to me last month. Literally, one morning, woke up and couldn't open my jaw. The dentist took one look at me and was like 'we gotta take this out, like now.' i thought it would take FOREVER to recover. took me a day and half and the next day look FINE. Literally,my boss looked at me like 'really? you had your wisdom tooth taken out?'
Ice, ice, ice. Three key words.

yes, no straws or hard food. stick to soup, jello and pudding for like the first 24-36 hours.

I only have two wisdom teeth. The ones on the top. When they did an X ray a few months ago, I miraculously didnt have any on the bottom (THANK GOD) They never bothered me before and I started getting this horrible pain on the side of my mouth yesterday. I bought one of those little tooth mirrors at Eckerd and I see the tooth sticking out! Do you think I should get it taken out? Maybe it will get scared and go back in lol. Im afraid Im not gonna do too well. Ive only een to the dentist a handful of times. So they tell you to ice it after the surgery?? Ill follow anything they say. I dont know if I can build up the courage to go for it though

If it is coming out, you gotta get 'em pulled...not really an option! You'll be fine, my only concern for you is the epics. Can you hold off until wednesday?

I had 1 taken out and I don't care if the next one is growing through my cheek, they are not touching me ver again. I did not get put out. Big Mistake. I felt everything, I thought he was breaking my jaw. I cried the entire surgery and The dr. was sooo mean to me. Unfortunetly my experience put a very bad taste in my mouth. Please make sur eyou get put out. Oh and also I have heard that the bottom ones hurts worse b/c your bottom jaw moves and your top doesn't. Good Luck and gets lots of pain meds

Ow they are just bad. I have 2 more to remove and had one taken out back in April. I was stuck in bed for almost a week because of that. They said the tooth was close to the eye, resulting on a nosebleed after the surgery.

I am the BIGGEST baby. Literally the dentist was like 'there is a thirteen year old girl who got all four taken out who is being more brave than you!'
Seriously, ice was my savior. I have a HUGE event to go to and was afraid I was going to look like Quasimodo and I just iced it like crazy. People were amazed that I had it taken out the day before.
Honestly, when you can't open your jaw, it means it's infected. You should get it out sooner rather than later!!!

Well, the last one that was bothering me had just broken the gum when iI went to see the dentist and he said that although it wasn't super painful, it was a good idea to take it out b.c you can get an infection with the gum open like that. And, like I said, i went under anethesia for it. I'm a big baby and would rather be knocked out rather than see those huge *** tools in my mouth!!

The pain was only bad for the first day and then got better fairly quickly. I';m not sure what to tell you. I know that with the first one, i waited a few days to get it out and the longer i waited, the more swollen my cheek got.

keep us posted.!

I had all 4 taken out at the same time and i was fine once i got off the pain killers. i just took advil.

I had 2 impacted and 2 partial impacts plus another tooth pulled at the same time.

It took about 2 days to recover.

Edit= oops closed the screen too quick.

Rinse with salt water and take advil to ease the pain and any swelling until tuesday. Good Luck- feel beter!

What does impacted mean??

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

Umm, I had two that were impacted...I THINK it means that they are on an angle? Like, pushing into the other teeth...

Breathe...relax...its not a big deal...go see your dentist ASAP and if you need to reschedule your epics, than do that. YOU'LL BE FINE!
