Ow they are just bad. I have 2 more to remove and had one taken out back in April. I was stuck in bed for almost a week because of that. They said the tooth was close to the eye, resulting on a nosebleed after the surgery.

OH HELL NO! Im getting dizzy thinking about it. OMG I dont think Im gonna do it.

Don't worry they put me out for it. I remember I was put on the chair and then suddenly I was lying down in the waiting room with a gauche on my mouth (they took out the upper right one). I think I passed out in the car after my mom and FI had to drag me to the car. My mouth was as big as a chipmonk for days.

I dont know what to do because I work from Wednesday to Sunday this week and I feel like if I wait til next week its not gonna be pretty. I might have to try and call out of work. This is a pain. Thanks girls for the stories and suggestions. Im gonna call a dentist in my area (I dont even have one lol) and see if I can make an appointment soon. I'll keep you all updated. Im also going to write my last will and testament in case I die of a heart attack before I go

Not sure where you live, but I have an EXCELLENT oral surgeon in Huntington that I could recommend.

Don't worry you'll be fine. Just words of advice, lots of ibprofen, be put to sleep, and NO ORAL NOOKIE for a month. While on vacay with FI in Cabo, my right cheek swelled again just as if it was days after the surgery.

I live in Queens too, originally from Huntington, its about an hour to the dentist, so you'll need someone to take you if you are going to have the anesthesia. I would say he is worth the drive.

Im sorry your teeth hurt

I think it depends how bad it is, mine were impacted they took two out and they actually knocked me out. I was asleep for the whole thing. My brother didnt need to be put to sleep and just a little novacaine and he was fine.... Its not pleasant either way but its not terrible. Just buy a big bottle of tylenol ....it def helps. I think the place I went to was in Mineola.... I can find out if you are interested.

Id rather be knocked out. Im gonna definitely opt for that. And Im gonna keep my trusty painkillers right next to me! Id love the info if you have it. I guess Ill make a list in case I cant find a good dentist in Queens.

Go with a recommendation from someone, don't bother with your own search. Its better to know that the dentist you are going to has a good reputation. Again, can't say enough good things about mine.

I plan on getting mine out in december and I live in queens. I'm not sure of the name of the dr. I can ask my dentist if you're interested, he is the one that recommended the oral surgeon.

Do you think I need a referral from a dentist to go to an oral surgeon? Where in Queens?

I'm not sure, I think my oral surgeon has days that he comes in to my dentist to do the oral surgery that my dentist doesn't do so I don't need a referral since he'd be coming in to my dentist's office

My wisdom tooth is breaking through my gums and its killing me. I hate dentists and Im terrified. Who has had their teeth taken out? And how long does it take to recover?? Im hoping my cheek doesnt blow up by Tuesday (my e-pics).

Hey, I am currently a 2nd year dental student. I'm sorry your wisdom tooth is bothering you. Where are you on the Island? Perhaps I could recommend a good oral surgeon for you. I had all four wisdom teeth out in one setting and did it under local anesthesia (just an injection) to numb the area.

Have you had x-rays and has any dental care provider recommended a course of action? Usually if the tooth has begun to break through the gums the procedure to remove it is very easy. The dentists can numb you by an injection...and injections in the back of the mouth are the least painful, much less painfull then the pain you would be in if you didn't get the tooth taken out. You shouldn't feel any pain once your are numb, but you will feel pressure which some people do not like. You may also hear the dentist using different instruments to gently lift the tooth out, with minimal discomfort. At no time should you feel any pain. If you prefer you can also have concious sedation if that makes you more comforitable and they will put you to sleep. If you do get sedated you will need someone to bring you home from the appointment .If you aren't in too much pain, perhaps take some advil/tylenol and wait to see someone after your e-pics because you will have some swelling depending on how complicated the procedure will be.

For me and for most people I know I was fine in a couple of days. I took the painkillers only the first day and wore cold packs that day too and after that I just took tylenol. It does take a while for the spot where they took the tooth out to fill in, but it is a natural process. Just follow the doctors advice and ask them any specific question you may have.

Hope that helps.

I had all 4 taken out at once...they knocked me out and I woke up swollen and confused lol The recovery really wasn't that bad, considering they took out 4 huge teeth. I was in so much pain leaving up to the removal that I was just ready for them to go......I bled that first day for a few hours......passed out from the anesthesia......I was back to normal in about 3 days.....2nd day being the worst. Good luck!

i had all four, but mine weren't impacted so it wasn't too bad. The first night stunk, but after that I was back and up on my feet in a few days.

Thank you for the info! I am in worse pain today and I left a message on that dentists machine. Hopefully he can get me in tomorrow. It hurts when I smile too hard which ***** cause my epics are tomorrow. But Ill work through the pain. Do you think I should get both wisdom teeth on the top out even though the one on the other side isnt sticking out yet just to get it over with? Ill probably just meet with him and then make the appointment for the removal for next week. I really cant afford to miss any days of work this week which *****. Thanks again, you made me feel better when you said it should be easy since its sticking out already. I hope so!

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

i had all my wisdom teeth removed. mine were impacted, which means they never broke through my gums so it was more of a procedure to have them removed. my cheeks were not that puffy and it didnt last that long. when are your e pics? id say the earliest i would have them pulled is a week before or else try to wait until after the pics...if u can.

bella1028 Posted:

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

i have had 3 out of 4 pulled and they were not as painful asi had anticipated...the top ones (if i remember correctly) are a bit more painful than the bottom..it was a couple of days before i felt way better...good luck and feel better

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

i think it depends if it is top or bottom. I had my top out and i was fine 30 min after - no pain nothing. My sister had the bottom out and she had swelling andpain. I think the top is easier because it can drain down.
