Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

like everyone else has already basically said, get them all pulled at once.

Mine were all impacted and I was in so much pain I would never have gone back. Definitely follow the instructions your dentist gives you. Eat only soft foods the first few days and keep the area clean. My cheeks blew up a little bit but not bad, it really depends on the person. I got mine done on a Saturday morning and I was in school on Monday morning.

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

I only had bottom wisdom teeth and I had them extracted at the same time. It did not hurt at all and my face didn't bruise. I was able to eat the same day and I took extra strength tylenol!

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

i had 2 impacted wisdom teeth taken out at once.. they were both on my lower left. have them give u nitrous oxide. it will clam u down..i was chillin. i had my hands behind my head like i was at the beach lounging lol. i even held my cheeck open at one point for the surgeon. lol i have to go back and remove 3 more. and look fwd to it. hahaha im sick. the shot does NOT hurt. u will feel pressure when the dentist actualy pulls ur tooth.. but if u had a root canal or even a filling.. thats 100 times more annoying and painful.

they will give u an ice pack and send u home. i was fine. i drove myself home and was relaxed.

nothin' to it

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

My doctor didnt want me to get all 4 pulled at once.... so I got one side pulled, then the other a bit later. They put me to sleep so when I woke up... it was all done!

I was in pain though- but you can deal with it- with some pain killers lol

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

FYI - thrid molar/wisdom tooth extractions are a huge source of debate in the dental community. I would recommend discussing if you really need to have them out with your primary dentist (i.e., if you are not in pain). Most people are lead to believe that just because they see an xray where a tooth looks like it is 'impacted' or pointing towards the tooth in front that it needs to be taken out. In reality, you are looking at a 2-d picture of a 3-d image, meaning your tooth could actually just be superimposed over the tooth in front, not actually pushing on it.

Just my PERSONAL opinion, I can't speak for everyone. I had all of mine taken out by an oral surgeon on LI who lost his license, so I would also ASK AROUND!

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

I had one taken out about 5 years ago and the other 3 out in January '08. I should have had them taken out all at once. I was put under anesthesia (totally recommend) and I woke up in about 15 minutes high as a kite. There was minimal swelling and I went to work the next day. The most annoying thing IMO were the stitches and that I could only eat soup for 2 days.

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

im getting one out tomorrow. i will be put under with anesthesia. its partly erupted, but the root is deep. the other 3 are staying in, unless i have symptoms later in life (they are all impacted). im nervous..... but very glad im getting general anesthesia. i dont think i could deal with the tooth crunching noise.

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

i had all 4 our with just a bit of Novocaine... i do not do well under anesthesia so i want to prevent going under at all costs...

i braced myself for the procedure and within 10 minutes was done...

i really didn't swell up and went back to school the next day...

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

I had all four removed last year at one time. My surgeon knocked me out and I didn't feel a thing. I was little uncomfortable for a few days after but nothing a little motrin and eating soft didn't take care of.

I never bruised or swelled.

Re: NWR: Wisdom Teeth

do it all at once is my advice, you dont want to go thru it again. Thats what I did. Healing really depends on how quickly your body heals. I heal quick so I was out of comish for a weekend basically. Its so stinky bit get it over with
