NWR: Work Holiday Party

NWR: Work Holiday Party

Today I found out that my work holiday party falls on a Thursday in December, which happens to be my birthday.

I work for a company of about 100 people, and I've the owner gets a little ticked if you don't attend company functions. In the year and a half I've been here, I've attended every function.

Do you think it being my birthday is a valid excuse not to go?? I'd really prefer to spend the day with FH--in fact, I was going to take the whole day off to be with him!!

Personally I think it's fine. Last year I didn't go to the christmas party and it was the same way, the really want you to go and just about everybody does go. I was having surgery soon after the party and had a doctor's appointment to go to that day and i didn't even care. The surgery and taking care of everything beforehand was more important. If they couldn't understand that then that is their problem.

I think a b-day is a good reason. They should figure your loved ones just might want to spend the day with you, and not you with all your co-workers

I think its a perfectly good reason not to go

I actually stopped attending all work functions-our holiday party is a poorly catered luncheon in our showroom for 2 hours-its horrible-i just take a 2 hour lunch instead

I stopped going to my company's holiday party. They always have it in the city and it's a pain to get out there, get back & still have to come into work the following day.

You can say you'd love to go but FH made some special plans for you. Iif they ask what it is tell them you know know cause it's a surprise. That'll do it

That is perfect!!!!!

I agree with everyone else that you do not have to attend the party if you don't want to. I think your birthday is a valid excuse!
