go back to school for an aditional bachelors degree if you already have one???
I am really reevaluating where I am and am starting to think of some other careers I might be interested in and the main one would require some more schooling.
Am I crazy for thinking about this??

Re: NWR would you ever
i have always said that the only way i would go back to school for any degree would be if someone else is paying for it.
with that said if a job is saying that they will cover your tuition costs or will give you a raise based on your second degree & the money you are looking at can reimburse your tuition costs then by all means go for it.

Absolutely! You probably wouldn't be looking at 4 more years of school...I'm sure some credits would be counted toward the second degree, right?
It would take me about 2 semesters and then a semester of student teaching so not too terribly long.
if that's the case, i'd do a masters not a bachelors. i wanted to change careers so i'm getting my masters in education now..
Does the program allow you to student teach? I really want to make sure I am prepared and ready for the job.
yup... it's 30 credits including a semester of student teaching!
eta: a lot of ppl are talking about tuition reimbursement but most companies will not pay for it unless it will further your knowledge and help you in your job. for example, i'm an admin asst. --- an elem ed masters is obviously not going to help me with that, so my company won't pay for it

I definitely would. I think most of us have no idea what we really want to do the first time around. When we actually enter the working world, we realize where our skills and desires really lie. Go for it.

I have my BA in Creative Writing, an MS in Student Affairs, and I'm hoping to get my MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry :).

Also, as I work with college students everyday, going back for a second degree is not as uncommon as you would think. However, the only downside is that Financial Aid is not as helpful as it would have been for your first degree--unless you didn't take out any financial aid at all the first time around.

UPDATE
Since many of you responded (thank you!) I thought I would post an update. I spoke with the university this morning and I have three options. - take 5 classes to be certified (but must teach in the two counties in florida where I live now) but tuition is free -take 5 classes to be certified and pay for it on my own -or complete a teaching and instruction graduate program
I think I will end up going for the full graduate program

can you take the 5 classes for free and start teaching, and then complete the rest of what you need for the full graduate program?
