NWR...apartment rant

NWR...apartment rant

sorry about my vent but i just need some opinions from those who have rented before!

FH and I found an apartment last week through a broker and paid the broker's fee. at that time we were clear on what utilities were included and the rent price. a week later, right before we plan on paying the 1st months rent and sign a lease, suddenly we have to pay $100 per month if we want to park in the driveway(no street parking). The broker says that the landlord 'forgot' to mention it.

*** i thought we hired to broker specifically to help us know these things BEFORE the deposit. He full well knows the area and that we have cars and that we werent aware that we coudlnt park on the streets. i feel mislead and dont know if i should back out before signing a lease.
i feel deceived and i dont know if i should go ahead with a landlord that could be trying to take advantage.

am i overreacting?

ok...i dont have that problem. i rent but have to find parking on the streets.

however i feel that you were mislead. 100$ EXTRA a month is absolutely NUTS for them not to tell you. That is a lot of money (to me). I was be annoyed and keep up the search. Im pretty sure a broker is there to help with all the details (large or small) and they clearly messed that up.

I dont know.
My opinion
Keep searching for an apt.

I would go with a broker you trust and will help you find the best thing for you

you are NOT overreacting. Thats why you are paying the broker.. I would tell the broker to lower his/her fee for this mess up. 100 extra dollars a month is NOT a small thing.

I think you are being deceived, the landlord knows well in good that there isnt any street parking. Its not like its 25 dollars.

The broker should of told you and i feel like he is on the landlords side not yours. I wouldnt sign the lease.

Find another apartment else where
