FH and I are going to Boston for a mini-vacation in the end of July. We're staying by the water. Both of us have never been there before... What do we do there??? Anyone know any good restaurants? Places to go? Things to do? Sights to see? So far I want to go to the botanical gardens and take a ride on a swan boat, go to the original Cheers, and go the the open Sowa market on Sunday before we leave... Anything else???

if you like baseball fenway is worth a trip. it's really run down (and i'm allowed to say that bc i'm a yankees fan) but sooo much history. if you like the Melting Pot kind of place, try Fire and Ice. there are a few around boston. if it's nice you can go kayaking on the charles river too. they have rentals and it's cheap. I'd also check out harvard square. if you like italian def check out the north end. lots of great restaurants, and it's cute.

If you are into history at all, you can walk the Freedom Trail, it stops at a lot of historic landmarks. I always love eating at Legal Seafood in Boston as well. I second the aquarium, its pretty awesome. Shopping on Newbury Street is also fun, they have a lot of high end designers stores there.

The Sam Adams Berwery has a 2 dollar tour which was fun....we did the freedom trail which was cool if you are a history buff ......we were able to see a baseball and basketball game while we were there too
Hit up the bakery near Paul Revere's house in the North End .....heard it is amazing .....we never made it up there :(

Mikes pastry in the north end...yummy. The aquarium is a lot of fun, and the sam adams brewery is good too, but it isn't exactly in the city, its a short ride on the T and a few block walk from the train stop.
