I just read an article about a man whose dog passed away and he had no idea what the cause was b/c his dog was young and healthy. After the vet ran tests they found a toxic chemical that is found in antifreeze...long story short it was traced back to swiffer wet jet cleaner which has this chemical in it. It does state on the product that it can be harmful to pets, but I use this all the time and have a puppy....so I thought you girls who do also may benefit from this too.

true, but this one in particular has a chemical found in antifreeze that is absolutely toxic....not all cleaners have toxic chemicals

I've heard about the anitfreeze, but didn't know about the Swiffer. I'm glad I don't use it. Thanks though!

That is why I clean the floors that my puppies are walking on with a mixture of water & Vinegar
here some info: 'White distilled vinegar is a popular household cleanser, effective for killing most mold, bacteria, and germs, due to its level of acidity. Cleaning with white distilled vinegar is a smart way to avoid using harsh chemicals. You’ll also be glad to know that it is environmentally friendly and very economical. '

To be honest they do not need to lick the floors to get sick from it. The chemical residue can be on the floors, they walk on the floors with their paws then lick thei paws. over time they may ingest enough to have effects in the long term. People sometimes wonder why their dog later in life will have issues with their skin or health issue, & you never know if the root cause was long term exposure to toxic chemicals.
better safe than sorry & DO NOT use chemicals on the floor. (same goes for people with children that play on the floor).
There are many natural cleaning options that are better for then environment & those little ones. (us too)
Choose stuff that says it is non toxic & natural to use for cleaning floor surfaces.

You can use non-toxic, 'green' or homemade cleaners. They work great. Method (sold in Target) has it's own version of a Swiffer too.

This is exactly what I do, that and I was told it was the best way to clean granite floors.
I dont like using harsh chemicals on my floors because of my pets so i used cleaners i find in petstores that are safe to clean cages with. My favorite is DooDisolve which is even safe for birds and reptiles. It smells nice and cleans pretty well. The only thing i dont use it on is glass.

OMG, I use it too and I have two pets. I guess I won't be using it anymore. Such a sad story. Thanks for the warning.

Thank you so much for the info....I have 2 dogs at home and will not be using this product now.
It may not be true as of yet, but there are so many awful things in some of these cleaners, it is no laughing matter to raise awareness.
Thanks for the tip Marisa
