NWR:did you hear

Original post by JnA823

Has anyone heard the story about the 17 girls in Mass. that made a pact to get pregnant. I'm listening to the story on the news and all they keep saying is how the school is responsible and how could the school not see this and what can the school do... Since when did we send our children to school to be raised? Shouldn't they be going to school to be educated and the parents should take care of raising the children... They say maybe it's because of movies like Knocked up which promote single parenting. Why do the parents never get the blame but the media and the school does.

Re: NWR:did you hear

From what ive read they come from a small fishermans village. They were 'bored'

When I was in hs...I remember my best friend getting out of the hs she was in because of a clamiddia *howeveryou spell it* outbreak!!!! I remember her mom saying 'Dont these children have parents? How did 26 of them get that disease? Once one kid was sick didn't the parents think 'maybe i should stay home tonight and watch what the girls are doing...or who their doing'.

That always stuck out in my head because she was such a good mom and she always knew where my friend and I were. She even said to us along with my mom 'We know you girls drink. But if you want to drink that bad, do it here,in the house, where we can make sure soemone else doesnt hurt you'.
Some looked down upon them for that. But, I always looked at it as...instead of scolding us and freaking out and having us go out and get even more trashed at the age of 18 to rebel, it made drinking less the 'Apple' in the garden... and more a choice of maturity.

I don't know. I feel like alot of parents do not step in anymore and that upsets me. Esp when there are 8th graders in my school getting caught doing things they shouldnt... :(
