depends on the person and the context. I have had people ask me how much $$$ we are putting down on our house (the $$$ amt, not just %) - I found that rude. If someone else is looking into homes, I have no problem telling them what my mortgage is, but if they are just being nosy into my financials, I think that is rude.
I am actually shocked at what people who I don't consider very close have asked me over the last year - especially when planning a wedding and buying a house. Do people have no tact or limits!?!

It depends on the person and the context of the conversations when asked.
I agree, when I moved to California, people here asked how much my mortgage was in NY and my NY friends asked how much we were paying for our apt in LA.

Yes and no. If it's just some random person then yes. But if it's a very close friend or relative and they are looking for a house them I wouldn't mind giving the info nor would I think of it as rude. JMO
I agree

I do not think it is rude. Some people try to ask so that they can have an idea about the rates on the market. People that I am not close to would ask me about my mortgage payment and I would tell them without it bothering me.

I guess like everyone is saying it does depend on situation/who is asking, but mostly I still think it's a money question and a little rude.

I agree...some people I would tell. If someone was looking as well, I wouldn't mind sharing. But just randomly, no it's rude.

No, I don't...so how much is your mortgage?
How much are you putitng down?
How much are closing costs?
When do you move in?
How are you moving?
How much do you and your DH make?
All totally innapropriate questions for anyone to ask...unless you volunteer that info, even with family, it's WRONG TO ASK.
What Ro said is true...it's prob jealousy because you're buying new.
That rocks! God bless!
