My kitchen is mostly wood (cabinets, floor, and even ceiling)and I have no idea what color to paint it. The adjacent rooms are going to be a dark tan and a mossy green. I want a color that will create a nice flow between the two rooms but I don't know what it should be. My FH wants a light beige but I think it may be too much tan with all the wood. Any suggestions? TIA
here's a pic...

Re: NWR...help me choose a paint color
i was actually thinking about a red but i wasn't sure how it would work against the green (don't want a christmas look all year round) but you made me feel better about it now. Thanks! Now I just have to convince FH to go with a dark color.

Re: NWR...help me choose a paint color
if your using Benjamin Moore paint I can help you pick the colors... if the green is picked tell me the color and name...
for reds... I'm thinking umbria red, or moroccan red.. you want it to have undertones of brown not pink
I believe you can go to benjamin Moores web site and view colors, of course they are not completly accurate to the real color..
Also when using a red, it will problaly take 3-4 coats of paint, so if you buy the samples to try out, make sure you put on 3 to 4 coats, and paint in several spots, one near a window, one near the ceiling and one near the floor away from natural light so you get the true feel of the color in all aspects and lighting of the room.. HTH FM if you need anymore help

Re: NWR...help me choose a paint color
well you could do a burnt orange or a very deep yellow, but depending on the yellow, its hard to do with the cabinets so it would have to have more gold in it.. Dont do anything in the tan family.. it will just look to overwhelming as the cabinets fall into those color tones

BTW-red is by far the hardest color to sell men on I don't know why, but everytime we do, i tell the women don't worry he'll love it when were done, and i have yet to have a husband tell me they don't like, but they all hate the idea beforehand

Re: NWR...help me choose a paint color
we have most of our main walls in a light tan color with accented green colors (like you say). Our other rooms have a dark chocolate brown accent and an orange accent...id say stick wth earthy tons and you cant go wrong...i still vote for the red though!

wow...thank you so much! i actually dont remember the names of the colors we picked out and the chips are at FHs. they are benjamin moore though.
if we do go with the red...isnt there a special primer so you dont have to use that many coats?

you can buy a tinted primer and that will help, but it will still need a few coats at least 2-3 and the primer usually tends to be 2x the price of the paint (if its the tinted kind) You know we have painters that kinda get all the stuff we need and give me the bill, so I'm not so fimilar with the actual products.. but i know they do use them sometimes, but usually more when there covering over another color, ie: blue to red, so that none of the other color seeps through

Re: NWR...help me choose a paint color
I love the layout of your kitchen! Great open space and beautiful floors. And not to sound like an echo, but I think red is a great wall color with the wood floors. I wanted to do red in some rooms in our house and FH is totally opposed to any dark colors. Ughh!
