NWR..Leave of absence from work

Is anyone familiar with the process? Do you have to give a specific reason or can you just say it's for a personal reason and not go into details?

I think you have to provide some type of documentation of reason for a LOA. You can also look into FMLA. FMLA stipulates a LOA for a certain period of time and they will hold your position. Talk to HR

I work in HR. FMLA only applies to take care of a sick loved one, in your immediate family, ie, child, mother, spouse, etc. Or a medical leave for yourself. In any case you'd need a documented medical reason. Your employer is required to hold your position for a max of 12 weeks and there are a bunch of other stipulations involved.
If you simply need some personal time, check your vacation/sick/personal bank and use that time, this way, you'd still get paid. Check with your HR dept.
