Nancy there are just no words that can make this better, and nothing anyone can do to make you or your family feel anymore comforted.

I remember the day we found out Peter was going to Iraq. Its like someone punched the air right out of your stomach. Like you have no words and everything that is happening is surreal. Its an out of body experience. Not to mention your hands are tied behind your back..you can do nothing.

But I tell you what...I'm going to FM you my number. And you can call me or even give it to your cousin to call me. Because I found that talking to other people that are going through the same thing, or have gone through it was the best help ever. You will go through things and think things that are just outrageous and not normal...but when you talk to someone else you realize everyone else going through this is going through and thinking the same things.
Right now you have to be strong for him. You have to try your hardest not to cry to much to him or tell him how scared you are. Now is the time( and this is straight from the army psychologist) to be his best friend and his number one supporter. You need to remind him how proud you are of him and how much you admire him. How much you will pray for him...and again..how much you support him!!! You have to be strong for him.
But then you too will need to cry, will need to vent...you will need your own support group. And I found that on this site, is the group of the most amazing, most caring, most understanding girls in the world. People that you never even know, on this site even, will come through with glorious fm's, phone calls, and immense support. Angels are floating all over these boards and will be here for you at a pin drop!!!! And don't be afraid to say you're having a bad day, or just can't think, or stop crying, because we'll all be here to give you cyber hugs

But most importantly, don't be afraid to share your feelings with us..its the only way to get through!!!!!
In the mean time, chin up, and be strong for him.
(I know it may not seem that way right now, but hey) And on the bright side..you are soo fortunate to be related to one of the brave few.....who put their life on the line for the freedoms of our brothers and sisters. And one day...just like our grandfathers told us.....He will have amazing stories to tell his grandchildren to come of his experiences...and how he fought for there right to live in this awesome country!!
I know its hard to see that now....but I promise you'll see it. And things will get brighter!!!!
