NWR..Student loans

looks like nelnet will lower my interest 1.25% to a fixed rate, but that is STILL to high!(6.25 ) oh well, thats my fault for not consolidating years earler, i didnt pay attention when i should. i am literally going to pay $1000/month for maybe 3 years instead of $200 for 20 years. i will be broke but i cant imagine still paying off student loans when my children are in high school!!!

I have about 40K in loans
I consolidated with Sallie Mae and I pay about $180 a month for 30 years

Well I pay much more each month to try to get them down but that is the minimum. Don't worry - it isn't that bad. . . you don't even miss the money bc you get so used to paying every single month!

7.25% is a little hight but they did just increase it in July of 06 - it was about 4.5-5% before then. Call around and bargain with them - its all a sales game, I'm in sales so I know how they think - make them think you will consolidate with them TODAY and see what they can do for you

i consolidated with Citibank where I actually borrowed from and my interest rate is 4.75% - i graduated last may and locked it in before they raised it! I pay 146 a month for 20 years or until i pay it off - god 20 years sounds like a LONG time
