Re: NYC City Clerks office
yes, you can get your marriage license in NYC and use it anywhere in NYS.
ETA: from nyc marriage bureau faq:
Q. Can I use a Marriage License obtained at one of your offices outside of New York City in another part of New York State? A. Yes. You may use a Marriage License issued in New York City in any part of New York State. Your marriage record will be maintained by the Office of the City Clerk.

You should be fine with just your license.

we got ours in queens. we only had to use our drivers license but be forewarned GO EARLY! OMG we were waiting almost 2 HRS, only ones who practically spoke english in the line, and our guy had us finished within 10 minutes.
Wish I would have done it in LI!..would have been less time and less stress...
Good luck hun!

Also, if you're not getting married in a religious institution it's a good idea to just confirm that your officiant is registered with them. The woman told me it happens all the time that people get married by people who are not registered to marry people.

I went to the office in Manhattan and all we needed was a license...I would advise going when it opens though.. We got there at 8:30 and were out within 15 mins! HTH!

As many have said already, you can use just your license. My husband is from Staten Island and that's where we went for our license. We got married on LI.
ETA: We also brought our passports. It doesn't hurt to bring anything you have.

Re: NYC City Clerks office
So would the OFFICIAL wedding date on the marriage certificate be the date spent at the clerks office instead of the ceremony??
Also, do I need to bring someone to witness this?
We are thinking of doing it tomorrow. Need some quick answers.

No, it's the day of the ceremony. And no you do not need witnesses for the license--just you, FH and your IDs. It's very simple.

Re: NYC City Clerks office
just did it today. It was very simple. All they wanted were your IDs (Driver's license okay) from the both of you, and a money order (or credit card) for $35.
Then you get a form for your officiant to fill out the day of ceremony and to mail back to the city clerks..
Easy.

We just got ours today too - applied online, saved the confirm # (though we didn't need it once there today) - showed our licenses and paid $35 via credit card and we're all set.
