My FH and I want to take our engagement pictures in NYC but are not very savy on knowing locations to go. We want it to be a fun photoshoot with an artsy style. So far i've seen and like photos taken in SOHO and central park but i dont know the exact areas they were taken in. Any suggestions?? Thanks girls

I know its not the city, but DUMBO is where we plan on going. (Its Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) We are going to start at the brooklyn side of the brooklyn bridge with the city in the background. And we might walk over the bridge or stay in that area-they have some cobblestone streets.

Central Park locations by the bridge, boathouse, etc. are around 72nd Street---if you enter at 72nd on either the east or west side, you should be able to find the large square where the fountains are and then the bridge. Any photographer that is familiar with the city should know.
How about Grand Central or the public library? Those could be pretty unique.
If you show the pics from Soho, we might be able to figure out where they are!

if you are willing to leave NYC, you can venture into queens and check out 5 points. it's where all the super talented graffiti artists go to draw on the walls and is always featured in music videos and such.
the colors make a great backdrop!

downtown near wallstreet is 'stone' street- all cobblestone narrowstreets with old cool builings in backdrop. also grand central station- there are a ton of shots you can get there

if your looking inside manhattan - anywhere in Central Park is beautiful - but there is a huge lake where you can take a gondola ride in the spring/summer months that looks beautiful. there are weeping willows everyone and its very secluded. gorgeous backdrop with over pass bridges

We did our ephotos in DUMBO -- I posted a few in my album if you want to see. I liked it there because it was a good mix of urban and nature.
Oh, and I lived in Brooklyn at the time so it also kinda meant something to me to do photos there.

Totally agree! I live right by 5 points and my FH and I plan to take our epics there@! This would be an awesome place to go if you are looking for artsy types of pictures. If you want to see some of the graffti displayed FM me. My FH took some pictures around there (he is a freelance photographer).
I also agree with south street seaport, brooklyn bridge, the Long Island sign in Long Island City, queens. if you do south street seaport, you can take some really cool pictures away from the seaport by the cobblestone streets. Have fun!

Yes I would look into DUMBO or the SeaPort. I work in Soho and there are some really awesome streets that would be great for photos. Im thinking of taking them in either 3 spots. Good Luck

ah! the public library always reminds me of the S&TC movie

We did our's on Roosevelt Island (its technically considered part of Manhattan). Its so pretty- pics are in my album.
