Re: NYC Gals
I will be at work. We have no leniency policy for 9/11 but last year I think they brought us bagels for breakfast or something like that to bring everyone together.

Re: NYC Gals
Last year I worked from home so I could watch the memorial service on TV. This year I will be coming into work wearing something patriotic. My secretary is going with some others from our company down to Ground Zero to volunteer - she'll be ushering the famiy members to where they have to be for the 2nd memorial.

Re: NYC Gals
I will not work.
Instead Im going to spend that day and the next filling out my stupid Victims Compesation Fund paperwork. Its like 25 pages thick and comes with a 30 page manual on how to fill it out. BAH
The deadline is this December.. so I have to do this. My father gives me no peace about this. Since you don't get money from Workers Comp he feels I should file the paperwork and take whatever I recieve and put it away for future issues with my injuries. I know he's right.. but it's hard. I don't believe I deserve anything more than a chance to live my life normally.
SO this year I'll spend reliving the whole thing ... again.. (Im getting used to it) running around to doctors offices proving my injuries and date of services.. finding an attorney to help me figure out the rest of this crud.. I hear some attorney's do pro bono for this stuff.. and getting all this notorized, copied and mailed out.
Oh Joy
ETA: Even tho the company I now work for lost every single person who went in that day into their WTC office.. they have NOT given any notice of any observance this year.. that's so sad.

Re: NYC Gals
My company is so awful they barely showed leniency on 9/11/01! So yes I will be working and having my own moment of silence that day.

Re: NYC Gals
Last year we had a luncheon so we could all just sit and be together as a group. It was nice. We sat around eating sandwiches and talking. We are on Hudson and King and we watched from our windows. We were far enough away that we really didn't see people jumping, but I saw the second plane hit and watched both towers come down. I remember sitting in a co-worker's office wanting to reach through the glass and stop it, but knowing that I couldn't.
I will be in that day.
