NYC Ladies - Transit Strike

Original post by ChrissynRicky

Are your companies currently putting together contingency planes in case of the transit strike on 12/15?

Just curious as to what your means would be.

Article about transit strike

It sounds from this article, that LIRR would not be involved.

Phew. As much as I love not having to commute, working from home for more than a day would be a huge PITA.

My office isn't doing anything that I know of.......Luckily I live 10blocks away from my office, but we do have alot of people who commute from CT, NJ & the other boroghs.

my mom always talks about how she was pregnant with me and had to walk to work across the 59th St bridge during the last strike. it lasted for almost 2 weeks.

No plans as of yet. It would be wonderful if they allowed us remote access to the system so I can work at home. I can only imagine that my company will provide charter busses. Do you really think that they are really going to go on strike??

Of course it can happen and it did happen years ago...but I think in nowadays the city would do everything in their power to prevent the strike from taking place.

I spoke with my partner today, and the NYPD is prepared to do 12 hour tours, but they doubt the strike will occurr, especially since all the terrorism alerts still in effect...

ugh does this count for buses too? worse come to worse i can always take the bus down and then take the shuttle that the university i work for provides at that particulat stop even though it runs at certain times. when is the strike set to happen? i dont have full work weeks this month because i'm using the remainder of my vacation days and then we're closed from the 21 til jan 3rd. sigh why does this always happen right before the holidays?

I cannot believe they are planning to strike again This is just on my nerves. It happens every few years and is typically over money. The fare has already gone up what - 3 times in the last 2 years

I just heard the car pool idea will be 4 people or more below 96th St
