Did anyone sign up for the ELA grading? I just got an email that the schedule will be Jan 22-Feb 15th. Mon-Fri 4pm to 7pm and Sat and Sun either 8am to 1pm or 12pm to 5pm. They want us to commit to all hours, or not do it.
What I don't get is that I have graded in the past and it has only been about 15-20 hours of work. This is now for almost 100!

The email says that they would like me not to take the position if I cannot be there all of the days. I just don't understand how they are going from 20 hours to 100 hours of work! The first day and probably training is on Tuesday, so worse comes to worse, I'll go, take the 2 hours of per session and see what the plan is.

I signed up and I got that same e-mail. The original posting said it was up to 100 hours and that there is no guarantee you'll work 100 hours. Knowing the DOE as I do, it probably won't be anywhere near 100 hours. Once the tests are graded the assignment is over. I did it two years ago during the Feb break and I wanted to hang myself.
I have so much on my plate -- why am I doing this????? Oh, that's right. This wedding is costing us an arm and a leg

I feel the same way, but FH and I are buying a house so the money can really help. I am just annoyed because it interferes with the 3 children I tutor and also the time I have to see FH (he lives in LI so I only see him on weekends). I am going to go to the first day next week and see what they say.

That would be fine, I just need to know. The NYCDOE does this for everything and it's quite annoying. Last year for summer school I was a coach. They didn't have any training even though I had to turnkey to the teachers. They didn't tell me where to report and when. I just assumed I was at the same school as previous summers so I called there. The AP there told me just to show up a certain day and time. Oh well. I guess it will never change.

I signed up on the DOE website where the postings are. The grading has already begun so I don't think they are accepting anyone else.
