NYC venues

Friends just got engaged and are looking for a venue in NYC. Any suggestions are appreciated.

They're expecting 100-120 people and are hoping for this September. Don't know specifics of their price range.

They're new to NYC...

Any ideas?

Re: NYC venues

When I was looking for a place in NYC, I fell in love with the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, one of Abigail Kirsch's places.

The minimum is 100, I think.

ETA: I think I still have menu and price info, if you're interested.

Some friends of mine are getting married at Loft Eleven. I am getting married at the Botanical Garden which is an Abigail Kirsch location.

I almost used The Water Club. They are reasonably priced, the food is good and I think it would be a great place for a wedding. Ok - it is next to the highway but once inside - it's great.

My issue - the reception room is a bit small. i was planning on 160 people plus a band and I didn't think the band would fit.
For a smaller wedding - I think it would be great.
They also own Laura Belle (sp) which might be nice. I know someone who got married there but I've never been

I was obsessed with Tribeca Rooftop. Simply awesome. But be prepared to pay $215++ for a Saturday night.

The Downtown Association on Pine street. 100 minimum, beautiful if you like the mansion style and have less that 120 guests.

I went to the restaurant Candela and the price they gave me for 130 people was so reasonable - like $5-6000 for all the food and alcohol and the cermony included...
it's on 16th St. off Union Sq.

I looked at 24 5th when I was thinking of having the wedding in the city. I fell in LOVE. It is a historic building that they have just restored and the ballroom is absolutely beautiful!

I'm getting married this Sept. at the Lighthouse at Chelsea piers I can tell you its absolutely gorgeous, we fell in love as soon as we walked in. They were booked evey Sat night in Sept-Oct when we went back in Oct. ...we are doing a Sat afternoon that was all they had and it was what we can afford, the lighthouse is pricey if you want to do an evening wedding. FM me if you need more info.

my girlfriend is getting married at Tribeca Rooftop. My step sister got married at Capitale. I had my bat mitzvah at the Waters Edge at the East River Yacht Club. All awesome!

Boathouse in Manhattan and the Boathouse in Prospect Park Brooklyn -- beautiful venues with character, perfect for a small wedding

Angel Orensanz foundation -- gothic looking building that used to be a synagogue but looks like it could be a gothic cathedral...awesome!

Bryant Park Grill is also nice because it's in the park...

Also another place to check out...the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum. So gorgeous!

If she's willing to have it on Long Island, I'd check out the deSeversky Center, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful venues in New York...with the ability to do an outdoor ceremony.
