Friends just got engaged and are looking for a venue in NYC. Any suggestions are appreciated.
They're expecting 100-120 people and are hoping for this September. Don't know specifics of their price range.
They're new to NYC...
Any ideas?

Re: NYC venues
I'm getting married at the Parker Meridien Hotel on 57th Street. The ballroom has panaramic views of Central Park and the food is awesome. If you have any specific questions, FM me. I visited A LOT of venues in Manhattan, so if I knew what type of place your friend was looking for and in what price range, I can suggest other places.

Re: NYC venues
My place is great for that size - The Down Town Association. The Yale Club is too (my runner-up choice, have only heard great things about it). Those two places, battery park gardens, manhatten penthouse, are the cheapest places I found. My FI says I am officially addicted to the wedding boards - there is no disputing it - and I have to go pack for our trip.

Re: NYC venues
I'm starting to highly consider manhattan venues, but I'm also figuring them to be more expensive then those on the other boroughs.... Le Meridien I am sure is gorgeous.. about what do they charge I'm intersted in either a Sat or Sun night wedding.... something around the 165-200 range. Any suggestions?

Re: NYC venues
All great suggestions already listed.
Cipriani in midtown is gorgeous and they just took over what was formerly 200Fifth as well.
There are a few loft spaces too if you want a more modern look like Studio 450 and Sun Studios.
Hmm..there are so many great places..its hard to pick.

Re: NYC venues
I think the thing with prices in Manhattan versus other boroughs or LI is that the per person price is a little bit higher, and it comes with less than what you'd get at LI places. For example, at the parker meridien, we're paying around $150 pp, but if you want to add more to your CH than what's included, its additional, and so are some other choices with regard to your reception dinner options. I guess it depends on what aspects you value the most when picking a venue. But if you play your cards right, you may be able to get a deal at some Manhattan venues, if the time of year when you want to get married is in the off-season, or you aren't booking so far in advance. When I first went to LPM in March, I could have gotten a better pp deal on 2004 pricing, or for this winter. Also, Sundays and Fridays are almost always cheaper at city places.

Re: NYC venues
My brother is getting married at The Bryant Park Grille, very nice and good for the # of guests...... I think the price is reasonable too....
I have also been to a wedding at Bridgewaters, very beautiful from the food to the view!
