anyone know what's the difference between getting a marriage license in the city and one from nassau? i always got the feeling that town hall in LI is a lot more organized and less hectic than city hall in the city... can any brides with experience please give their experience? thank you!!!!

Re: NYC vs. LI marriage license
i've heard that in NYC they tend to not ask for a birth certificate---your license is enough. i know just about every place in long island wants both a license and your birth certificate.

Re: NYC vs. LI marriage license
I got mine at city hall downtown. It's not hectic at all. I went during my lunch and the longest line you wait on is the security one outside the building (for about 15 minutes maybe). Once you get in you're in and out of there in a few minutes. Every city hall in the five boroughs (there's one in each borough) has the same rules as far as what you need as far as ID (only one form) and $$, they are extremely organized, and they show you on a computer screen all of your information that you filled out on the form as they are typing it, so it's on you to correct any mistakes before they hit enter:
i went to the one in queens and was in and out of there pretty quickly. Only had to show a drivers license
