Re: Nyctophobia
Jenny thanks for the OP! I went and it was def different. My freinds bailed on me and FH got sick so I went with my dad
Its all about a heightened sense of awarness, suspense and your level of fear. It tests your senses to the utmost capacity - they start the situation by asking you to blindfold yourself and making you get in a van which then takes you to the 'haunted warehouse' so it completley tests your level of trust (I was seriously hoping this wasn't an experiement that would end up with bodies piled on the 6'oclock news - and I went anyway) it helped that my dad was in the van with me lol. They start by interviewing you regarding your fears and a couple personal questions, age and such - but this totally makes you self aware + the fact that you dont want to die at such an early age before being led into the warehouse space... There were many different rooms, some of them were in complete darkness and in some instances the walls/ and space felt as if it were enclosing in on you before you entered a new stage in the house. There were certain times where they played tricks like this one room filled with mannequins and you had to walk through the room set up in a maze like manner before discovering at the end (suspenseful & awaiting) that nothing jumped out at you, instances where veiled/masked creatures (dressed in black - standing in front or behind you at any given moment or all of a sudden following you, banging walls, or whispering steadfastly in your ear) walls would shake out of nowhere, and hands would grab at your ankles or the feeling of a faint touch would happen unbeknowst to you at any given moment. There was a room where there was literally nothing except a clown laughing -seriously you were the welcome wagon to the funny farm he was in- clowns never bothered me much but I could see some ppl crapping there pants on this one... Nothing was predictable, you had to take risks be it crawling through a space, choosing a door number, walking through god knows what - there was this one instance where there was no walls, it was seriously like sheets beeing blown together by strong wind tunnels on the outside - like missy elliots suit in supafly- so when I seriously couldnt find a wall, I had to ask the girl who was whispering 'go this way' if she was talking about the vagina like enterance (seriously it was like squeezing through a this tight space and that just came to mind with the fabric lol) she just kept whispering the same thing, so I finally had to step through - only to see a masked figure in a lone room and then the door opened exposing an empty parking lot and I thought - here is where I have to be in good physical condition to run my arse off from a chainsaw... but once I was led outside - I saw the van and there was my dan blindfolded and I followed suit. It was totally about not knowing your surroundings or being trapped with few exit strategies. The most fearful/suspensful part for me was when they make you ly on this wooden slab and they roll you flat on your back (oh and did I mention they greet you by opening a door and blindfolding you yet again but this time they force it on you if not by the element of surprise) - so in my head im thinking that chainsaw better stop well within a foot from my head but it was just about he suspense and the vulnerability of your body on a slab. There was little to no gore or typical horror shcemes. I think I did a pretty good job of not being getting to freaked out; unfortunatley the second they said 'dont touch the actors' that stuck out in my mind, so I didnt scream once...but the thrill/ adrenaline of the experience was well worth the 40 minute trip. I think they will be successful with the new concept and I'm excited to see what they can do with a bigger budget and the feedback they collect. Did anyone else go?
