It sickens me that officers aren't respected.. My FH is a CO and I worry about him every day in the jails

I'm wondering if it has to do with the Bell case. I didn't hear anything else about it. I always keep New Yorks finest in my prayers.
Live update next on fox 5 of tonights shooting.

It is pretty disgusting how many people treat us on the streets. I have been on the NYPD for over 9 and 1/2 years and things have not gotten any better.

This is crazy....what's wrong with people? All day today I was calling FH while he was working 'just to say hello' but he knew I was worried about him... My thoughts are with all you ladies with loved ones out there on the streets and to any of you ladies that are out there too

Re: NYPD in my prayers..
i have allot of repsect for you and your officers i used to work ems in the 103 pct where that whole sean bell thing happened and honestly we werent supposed to go into some places without officers escorting us. its ridiculous what the public opinion is and honestly were i work now with kids that are troubled its scarey to see that its going to get worse before it gets better simply because of the street culture....my heart goes out to the officers families. and to you and your fh and all the other officers....thank you for risking your lives for us

I think it's just lack of respect of other people in general...no one respects the law anymore...how many people talk on their cellphones & drive...or don't bother to signal...everyone feels they are entitled to do whatever the hell they want regardless of how it affects others...and our legal system's punishments are a joke...god bless those trying to keep us safe and THANK YOU!!!!

Re: NYPD in my prayers..
The escalation in violence against Police officers though has changed since the Sean Bell case and I have a feeling it is in retaliation. It is a tragedy that the man was killed but that doesn't mean that ALL police officers are bad. We don't even have all the facts yet in the case. I have a lot of respect for all civil servants, especially cops and firemen (FH is FDNY) and I keep all of them in my prayers every night.

I totally agree with you, some folks have a lack of respect for each other. We do see it every day in our lives. Unfortunantely, CRIMINALS are a part of our society. I really don't feel like these incidents are in retaliation to the Sean Bell case since the incidents did not happen in the same area. Remember that ignorance is bliss. It is our responsibility to teach our children respect for all authority, so they can grow up to be decent adults. It takes a village to raise one child.
