Just heard another 2 officers where hurt tonight in a shooting in the Village and then last night another 2 were severely hurt...

What's going on doesn't anyone respect NYPD anymore..makes me

The two last night were auxilary officers and they were killed. one was only 19 years old and the other only 28. It is such a horror.

After reading the whole story, it doesn't seem to be related to the Sean Bell case at all and it was just a tragic incident. I can't believe they both lost their lives...such a tragedy. What is wrong with this world?

I think it's just lack of respect of other people in general...no one respects the law anymore...how many people talk on their cellphones & drive...or don't bother to signal...everyone feels they are entitled to do whatever the hell they want regardless of how it affects others...and our legal system's punishments are a joke...god bless those trying to keep us safe and THANK YOU!!!!

That's what I heard this morning. They said the 19 year old would have turned 20 in 2 weeks. This is just too sad. I have a brother who is a retired officer, a brother in law who is a retired officer and his son is now an officer....so I can relate to the Police Department and respect them. You have to pray for all of them every day.

DH is hanging with hundreds of others cops waiting on word about the Sean Bell grand jury decision....they have their riot gear ready in case ppl go nuts.

So ladies please keep the police in your prayers...cause my husband on the streets today and all he's trying to do...is his job!!!!

This is true. And what many people may not know is, Aux. PO's are volunteers!! They do not get paid to wear a uniform and walk the streets. They help us out and do non-enforcement duties, or try to keep the peace before the Police Officers get on the scene.

What is really disturbing is that Aux. POs do not carry guns! And do not wear vests! But, their uniform is almost identical to ours. The only difference is that their shield is a star and there is the word 'Auxiliary' on the patch. A regular civilian would not know they are volunteers or that they don't carry a gun. Truth be told, a lot of times when in the stationhouse, POs mistake Aux. POs when they are walking around in uniform, so imagine what people on the street are thinking!

These two Aux. POs might have wanted to become Police Officers; when the the one turned 21 so this is how he was getting some experience, and maybe the other one just wanted to volunteer! So tragic...
