I need help from the tax savvy girls, or any accountants.
On the NYS form, the sales and use tax...they don't even give you an option on the table that says 0. It seems like its automatic that you have to pay the sales and use tax. So my question is, if all of your online purchases charged sales tax to NYS, can you put 0 in that box, even though it's not given as an option?
It's a little confusing. TIA!

Re: NYS Tax Question
TAXES...for some, that means
For me, that's my life right now...which also means hardly any wedding stuff
So, you should put an amount there in two instances:
1. You purchased an item that was delivered to you here in NYS but you didn't pay the seller any NYS sales tax and/or
2. You purchased an item outside NYS that is subject to tax here in NYS and you subsequently brought it into NYS and used it.
An example would be if you purchase a computer over the internet from an out of state company and you did not pay sales tax to that company.
Another example they give is if you purchased a book (YES a book can you believe it) out of state and brought it into NYS and used it...you'd have to figure the sales tax on that.
It's tricky; but you can guestimate what you bought online that you didn't pay tax on and include it...or omit it if you choose.
