O8'er Crashing....I need help from my Latina Newlyweds : )
Sorry to crash girls, but I needed your adivce!!
I decided that I wanted to take FH's last name (who is Latino), but also keep my own as well, only cause I know it'll make my parents happy So hypenate it is! BUT..............
My question is, normally here in the states, isnt it traditional to have it MY MADIAN NAME - HIS LAST NAME??
Because I know in most Latin American countries and also where FH grew up, its VERY common to have HUSBANDS LAST NAME, THEN YOUR LAST MADIAN NAME, in that order. I hate to say it, but I actually like that better!!
His last name first-hyphen-my madian last name just flows better, but I dont want people here to think Im weird of get confused......
Any thoughts girls???? Is that even allowed????

Good question. I have yet to officially change my name, but at work I added my maried name onto my maiden name - no hyphen - just so that when I officially change my name people will still know who it is
That said, I wonder if you can just put it that way when you go get your marriage license. That's what you use to change your name with DMV and SS, etc., so if you put it that way on your marriage license, you could probably do it that way. Not sure though.

We do that in Spain too. I was concerned though that it would be to confusing for our kids when they get older to have a different last name that their mother (in Spain the child gets the fathers last name)
So, I changed my name to : Maria (Maiden name) (maried name) No hyphen
I got to keep my maiden name which was inportant to me but keep things semi-normal for my kids who would be growing up in the US!
