OB/GYN ... Male or Female??

Original post by februarybride

I'm looking to switch docs and want to find a female. I find my doc to be really cold and it's like pulling teeth to get any info out of him!
What are your experiences/preferences?

Tammy -- Dr. Latner was highly recommended to me!! I've been wanting to switch for quite a while ... but she wasn't taking any new patients. She's a busy lady!! I'll have to try again.

How funny!

I also am partial to males. I have a male ob/gyn and he is fantastic.

Male for me as well - I don't really care about the sex of my doctors - I am much more concerned that I feel comfortable and confident with them. My OB/GYN is in East Meadow.

Allure: OMG My nurse practioner wears a pin that says 'V@gina friendly'

Mine is a female nurse practioner. She's in Manhasset. I used to go to the male doctor in the office, but would hate waiting hours in the waiting room. So I switched to the nurse practioner and now I rarely ever wait.

I prefer (female) nurse practitioners to dr's. I have found that they take more time with me and are willing to hear what I have to say as well as ask questions. With OB/GYNs I always felt that since I wasn't pregnant or about to become pregnant, I wasn't important enough for the OB/GYNs to take the time for/with me.

I always have had female gyns - I think if anyone is going to understand what women go through and the female reproductive system, its going to be a woman. How can men relate?

that said, I don't think I'd be uncomfortable going to a man, but a woman just seems to make more sense to me.

I have a male ob/gyn. I've been going to him for 7 years now and I am very happy with him!! He's in Garden City.

To me, the sex of my doctors do not matter.

I go to a female MD in Stony Brook...she is very sharp...went to Yale Medical School, and is just a wonderful doctor.....spends a lot of time with you!

Also, her Nurse Practitioner is excellent (in case you need an appointment ASAP and can't get in to see her, their NP can usually see you on short notice, and is VERY VERY VERY good!

FM me if you want more info.
