OBGYN question

OBGYN question

So I don't have regular periods. Sometimes I am on a 4 week schedule sometimes 6 weeks, sometimes 5 weeks etc. I am not on birth control as I hate being on medication that I don't need. I am really concerned about having my period for our wedding /honeymoon. I am contemplating going back on it to ensure that this doesnt happen. How far inadvance do you ladies think I need to do this in order for it to work? My sis is an OBGYN so I will ask her this week but I figured Id ask you ladies, maybe you had some ideas! Thanks!!

I am a PA and you need at least 3 months to be able to play with your periods.
Definitely speak with your sister.

Re: OBGYN question

there's no other way to regulate it unfortunatly. however, this is a way to know ahead of time what;s going to happen and when. I just bought this book called 'taking charge of your fertility'. it teaches you about your basal temp, charting, and all sorts of other stuff. I think everyone should read this book. it's fantastic. A few other nurses that i work with recommended it. At least if you chart for a few months, and get to know your cycle, you will be more prepared. Other than that, your only other option is the pill, and like the PA said, you need AT LEAST 3 months on it to play around with it.

They have depo provera shots but you spot inbetween and it can take up to 1 year before it regulates.
I am not a fan of the injections!

The only thing with the provera, is it can take up to 4 weeks to bring on a period.

I don't think there is any other way besides the pill. I'm in the same boat. If I get my period so be it. It will only be a few days and then it's gone. With all the other things to worry about. I'm sure all the stress will delay it anyway!
