Anyone even stayed here or have any input on this resort for our HM?

Re: Occidental Aruba?
Occodental is all-inclusive. There are too many great restaurants on the island to warrant the expense of doing AI.
We went in 2004 and are planning to go back next August, but staying at the Hyatt or the Radisson. My friends have a time share at the Occidental and have been going for years, but service is not so good, food is so-so, and the latest reviews reflect that. Liberty Travel is having some good specials right now, or look at American Airlines vacation packages for hotel/airfare.

Re: Occidental Aruba?
my fiancee and i went there on vacation a few months ago. It was lovely, but the food wasn't very good and the buffets were tiny. The pool was great, and the weather was perfect. We took a sunset cruise and it was so romantic - there were lots of other couples on the boat too.

Read tripadvisor.com to help you. Personally, I wouldn't go back to the Occidental even if they gave me a free room. Great restaurants to try : Flying Fishbone - on the beach at sunset - verrrry romantic. El Gaucho - Argentinian steak house - get the sangria - it is unbelievable. We were crocked before dinner. The Pelican's Nest, on a pier on the water.
There's also a fabulous Italian restaurant across from the hi-rise hotels, but the name escapes me.

Re: Occidental Aruba?
We're in Aruba right now. We stayed at the Hyatt and now we're at the Westin (we are using points for lodging so we moved mid-trip).
The grounds of the Occidental looked nice but, I agree with the above poster - there are too many options around to go AI. We had friends who stayed there though this summer for their honeymoon and were really happy.
I loved the Hyatt, it's beautiful! The Radisson looked really nice too - we're going there for dinner tonight.
The Westin is nice and will be beautiful once the renovations are done.
