Does anyone know anything about Oceanside school district? Is it good/bad/just ok?

It's a very reputable school district. You can compare to others in the area by going to Newsday's 'report card' online.

I graduated from Oceanside schools, and found them to be very good. However I think the education was better for those in 'smarter' classes. People in regular (non-AP) classes didn't seem as prepared for college, but that could just be the people I knew.

i went there and so do my brothers... very good school dictrict. and it better be with the amount of taxes we pay hahaha

I am doing my student teaching there rignt now. I am very happy and the teachers are excellent. Every time I tell people that I am doing my student teaching in Oceanside they tell me that it is a good district.

if you're buying a house there, the schools are GREAT! no worries at all
if you're looking to work there, STAY AWAY!!!! they hire you for a year or two and then lay you off. they've been like that for at least 10 years. my aunt works there and tells me the horror stories of great teachers being let go for no reason (unless you call nepotism a good reason) each year.

I grew up in RVC but it was O'side school district. Now this is going back a lot of years b/c I am 30, but my parents pulled us out of those schools and put us into Catholic school b/c the teachers were way too liberal for them! I have no idea how they are now. Also back in the day the O'side schools had terrible drug problems - again I have no idea how it is now.
