I would like to get a few opinions on pricing on a venue for Oct 7th which is the sunday before columbus day. How much of a discount can one expect compared to the Saturday? If a venue is charging $100 PP, how much can I expect for the Sunday?
I would also like to know if anyone has any opinions on the wedding contract process. Is everything usually written down by the banquet manager in pen with the legal writing on the back? Is that pretty standard?
Thanks

Re: Oct 7th Wedding (Sunday before Columbus)
I saved about $50 pp for having a Sunday (b4 MTK day) then that Satuday! As for contracts, anything that they promise you make sure you get it in writing...extra food station...ect...
Good luck in your search!

I can only say from my experience with our banquet manager-- that yes, every thing was written down in pen on the actual contract. I'd assume that were the standard at most venues!

We tried to get a Columbus day weekend date and some places were already booked! I would start looking now and have a backup date as well. Good luck.

Re: Oct 7th Wedding (Sunday before Columbus)
I am having a Sunday wedding. I saved $30+ switching it from a Sat to a Sun. If I would have had my wedding the following wk (Columbus day 2013 wknd) it would have been about a $15 difference. Every RH is different though so its best if you make the calls to the 1s you are interested in and ask about pricing. Some places won't give you pricing over the phone but I found that most did. Good luck!

Re: Oct 7th Wedding (Sunday before Columbus)
depends on the reception hall in my opinion. We originally looked at that same sunday but some places gave us higher than normal sunday prices since it is a holiday weekend which were the same as having it on that saturday and others were less but not by much. We ended up booking that saturday only because it was just about the same as the sunday and felt that not all guests are off that Monday, didn't want to spend all that $ and have some people leave early. I would look now and have an alternate date in mind because it is a popular weekend.

Hey date twin :) when I was looking, and I booked my RH 4 months ago, so many places were booked already because of the holiday weekend. I got lucky bc there was a cancellation, so that was the only reason I was able to book this date at Giorgio's. From my experience this weekend is considered in season, because of it being a holiday weekend. I was told originally the last weekend in sept ends the season but because Columbus day is the first weekend in oct, there was minimal difference for that particular Sunday compared to Saturday. Each place may be different but I went to about 10 and got the same answer from all them but one

I was married on Oct 7 of this year, it was a Friday. I didn't see a price difference for it being a holiday weekend, but going from Saturday to Friday saved us about $30 pp.

We considered doing the Sunday before Columbus Day in 2012 and most of the RH's quoted us as if it was a Saturday You could give a few places a call and ask if that is their policy?

Some places do not offer a discount on a Sunday with a holiday on that Monday, you can get the discount rate on the Monday though. It all depends. And as a previous poster mentioned have a backup date in mind as it is a popular weekend for weddings. I lucked out when I booked my hall in July, a bride already had it on hold but then changed her mind.
