I think it's a totally awesome idea. I think it could be incredibly fun to plan with so many creative ideas to make it unique! People would have a fabulous time.... I absolutely LOVE Halloween!!
If we didn't have a four year old and I didn't feel like I was robbing him of trick-or-treat time, i could totally see us having a Halloween wedding!

I wouldn't do it if you are planning on inviting children, or people who have children. When I was a kid my brother and I went to a 10/31 wedding and were extremely upset we couldn't go trick or treating. In the event that we hadnt been invited and our parents went, who would have taken us out then if our entire family was at this wedding too?

I think its a great idea...IMO people are always looking for a party on days like Halloween and new Years...plus it lends itself to some great colors, favors, themes (if youd want something like that)

A lot of places I looked had the 10/31/10 date booked already. I know a few places that have that 09 date booked already.... I believe CLM & WM already have it booked.

Re: October 31, 2009- help!
my parents moved up their wedding date from june to 10/30 because they found a house earlier than they planned. their wedding was just like any other wedding, no aspects of anything Halloween-related at all. (it was the day before, but ended at 1:30am on Halloween).
I personally wouldn't want to get married on Halloween and that that be my anniversary -- I'd like to be able to have the night free to go out to dinner in the future and maybe take a trip, and when we have kids we'd be taking them trick or treating on Halloween. Our dating anniv was 9/1 and it was really convenient because our 5 year anniv overlapped with labor day weekend and we just picked up and went to vegas to celebrate.
you could def do a non-halloween wedding on halloween, but thinking long term do you really want your anniversary to be on halloween?

Thanks again girls.... I just want my wedding to be as classy and elegant as possible but only have this day to work with at the hall I love.
I would definitely go with some of the options some of the girls posted. If you do more of a fall theme, it would work. I like the fall theme, b/c it can be very elegant, and playful.

Re: October 31, 2009- help!
I never thought I would struggle with a wedding date like I am....I absolutely love the fall and if it were a perfect world I would have chosen the first Sat night in October (but of course I waited toooo long)...
From the advice that you girls have given, I definitely feel better about my wedding possibly falling on Halloween - so I thank each and everyone of you. As for Halloween being my anniversary for the rest of my life - its just an anniversary and Im sure we will be able to find time to always celebrate even if it means a day before or later.
Have to make a decision by noon....wish me luck!

Re: October 31, 2009- help!
My FH's sister had a Halloween Costume Ball wedding. I griped and complained about having to go, and having to get a costume, etc.
I'm a moron, because it was so much fun, it was unbelievable. People LOVED it, and it wound up being so much fun, because everyone was really involved.
Go for it, and good luck!!

Re: October 31, 2009- help!
My FH and I really considered it, however, we needed more time to save up $$ and would have to wait a while before it fell on a weekend again. Also, we were then thinking, since we love Halloween so much, that every other Halloween would be 'our anniversary' and we thought maybe that would take away from the Halloween excitement in general. We went for a Friday the 13th instead.
That is only our reason, but if neither of the above are a concern for you go ahead.
Someone I work with also had a Halloween wedding where she was the groom and he was the bride, but that just suits their funny sorta twisted likes and personalities
