# of days you and your fiance/hubby have spent apart?

My FH is in Atlanta for a volleyball tournament and it's been 8 days! I can't wait for him to come home tomorrow. The first few days were ok, but now I'm lonely and bored.

Does anyone else have issues with this? Is there anything you do to make yourself feel better? I may have to crack open some vino tonight.

We were apart for 4 years of college a lot. We were about 2 hours away from each other so we usually only saw each other on weekends or once/twice a month. It was terrible!!! I was also in California for an externship for 6 months-didn't see him for 5 months. He was in Greece for 3 months. It was tough but my advice is to stay busy. He'll be home soon!!! Maybe get together some of your girls for a night in or out.

FH and I were dating for long distance for almost 2 years...so much longer than that!

But now that we live together, I hate when he's not here. He works a lot of nights and I have trouble sleeping. This weekend he's away--at his bachelor's party in VA.

since 2002 the longest we've been apart was 9 days at a time during 2 different vacations. 1 time when i went to belgium and another time when he went to florida.

when i went to belgium---DH realized in those 9 days how much he missed me and a month after i got back--he proposed!

FH and I live about an hour and a half away from each other during the week due to our work situations. Tuesday night is always 'date' night since our very first date on a Tuesday night 3 years ago ( our anniversary is next week ).

The longest chunk of time we were apart was for about 20 days when I was in OKC for a competition. It really makes you value the relationship and time you can spend together.

We text, im and talk on the phone a lot, sometimes we even watch a favorite TV show while talking on the phone.

God bless those with loved ones serving overseas, I don't know how they manage to hold it together

Yea we lived 7 hours apart early on in our relationship....After 5 months I moved to Richmond (where we reside now)

8 days is the longest we've been apart since we've been engaged.

God bless all of you who are doing long distance right now...It will be that much sweeter when you move in together!

i always feel off if he's not around. He went to Mississippi for training once and that was 4 days.

We've also spent some time apart, like i'll stay at my parents in NY and he'll go home to NJ and come back the next day (because he has to work)....

I'd say grand total, maybe 20 nights apart in 6 years....but we moved in together after 6 months of dating...and started sleeping over each others' houses (yes, we were SLEEPING)...tee hee - after maybe 1 month.

DH was away for 2 weeks for work. You don't really appreciate the little things until he isn't around...and my own house freaks me out when he is not there.

There isn't much to do to make it better. Just talk to him when you can and stay busy.

I think I have you all beat. My Fiance and I were together 4 months before being about 20 hours apart for 4 years. We lived to gether for one year, than back to being 20 hours apart again for one year and now we are finally getting married :) And yes it was really really hard, especially once you've lived with someone.

Well we've known each other for over 12 years, so I'll only count since we got engaged.
Before we were living together we sometimes only saw each other once a week.
Now that we do live together, most days I only see him for about an hour when he gets home, around 11pm(before I fall asleep). We have opposite work schedules. And on Thurs, Fri Sat he works his second job and doesn't get home until after 4:30am.
So even though we are home together at some point every day. One of us is usually sleeping while the other is up. So it feels like we never really se each other.

I travel for work, so a few times a year I am away for as long as a week. It *****, but I think its true that abscense makes the heart grow fonder.

We have dated long distance for 5 years! I usually only see him on weekends. We have spent at least 2 weeks at a time apart.

I completely understand where you are right now!!! FH is in Philly for business, and it's only going to be a 5-day trip this time. But he travels frequently for business, usually over weekends, so the most time we've spent apart has been about 10-11 days when he drives from NY to FL, works a convention, then drives back home to NY.

During the day I'm OK. It's the moment when I lay down at night and he's not laying next to me that kills me. I'll admit the first night of each trip is the hardest, and sometimes I've cried myself to sleep. I can't listen to sappy songs like 'I'm Already There' (don't know who sings it, the one where he's in a hotel room calling his wife and kids).... that brings me to tears every time!!

What I do to keep myself from going crazy is to keep myself super busy. I DVR all my favorite girly shows during the week before he goes away, so I'll have stuff to watch. You know, wedding shows, SATC, sappy chick flicks. I'll call and get together with my sisters (did that today!) or my friends, go clothes shopping or to the bookstore, get a mani/pedi, things that I don't always have time for when we're together. He calls me every night when the convention closes, and I'll sometimes take a pic of myself on my cell and send him silly messages on my way to work in the morning, so even though he can't call me back, he'll get the msg and know I'm thinking about him. When he's on the road, I call him on my lunch or prep period (I'm a teacher) and chat for a few minutes. But no matter what, we always speak on the phone every night before going to bed.

And when they say 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder,' it really does. There's such anticipation for both of us on the day that he's coming back home....... I wake up in the morning and can't wait until late that night, knowing that I'll be in his arms again. Yes, I'm a hopeless romantic!!

I can't wait to see my FH again...

He lives in Pittsburgh, and though I am usually there for school, I have been home since April (with occasional weekend trips). He came out here last week to work on some wedding plans and for my shower.

But for our entire relationship we've only really been together during the school year (August to May), and when we go on vacation together. We are always apart for summer and the holidays... Christmas is the worst!

We are moving to Charleston, SC this summer, it will be so nice to be with him all the time and to not have to say goodnite over the phone...

in the beginning of our relationship my fh traveled all the time I would see him on weekends if i even saw him it was really hard for the both of us but we made it work i think the longest i didnt see him for was for 3 weeks- that was really hard luckily he doesnt travel as much and made it his business not to really especially since we are going to start a family one day

DH and i met in college and were together all the time for the first year and a half... at home, he was an hour away in LI... then he got into grad school in Boston, and that's where he spent the last 7 yrs! He was great about driving home almost every weekend, but of course there were times when his schedule didn't allow it, and we would go 2-3 wks without seeing each other. The first week would be 'ok' - but that second week is when you start to feel it - even though we didn't get to spend extended periods of time together usually, just knowing that you wouldn't see each other for almost a month is difficult. It's all worth it in th end though!

FH was away for 2 weeks for training for work. It was the worst two weeks for me. Talking on the phone everyday helped a little but I was so glad when he came home!!!

Well for the 5 years we dated I only saw him on the weekends. He lives in CT and il lived on LI And for 6 months a few years ago he lived in Arizona for work saw him for 2 weeks during that time. Then he travels for work from time to time, like this week he will be away. I moved in in Jan b/c of my job so now we are togehter. Its been a tough 5 years but now we wre togehther and will be forever

I studied in Rome for six weeks and I went to Sicily after we were engaged for two weeks.

I cried every single day of both vacations. I am going away AGAIN in October of 2009 for two weeks and I will cry every single day for that vacation too, can't wait

It's tough but once he is back you will realize how short the time actually was! I always realize this AFTER I have made a fool of myself for days at a time.

SInce we have been officially dating... 1 night - 3 times I think, may have been twice. The next will be the night before our wedding since my mom wants me to dtay there.
