Hi 08'ers! Hope you girls can help me with something...
I am trying to figure out the % of people that did not come to your wedding. I have heard an average of 10%-15% but have also heard different random responses like 30% or 40% even!
So I figured you girls would be able to answer this best. Please help
Thanks in advance!!

Re: % of how many responded NO
We invited like 135 and 113 came if that helps. It also depends ... we invited someone from Australia, Cali, Florida, etc. We knew those people wouldn't come and very elderly relatives who are mostly shut-ins, etc. So we just invited them to be polite, ya know?

Re: % of how many responded NO
we've been trying to keep it small - invited 110 people. 80 are coming, 30 are not. So I guess that's somewhere between 25%-30% that declined?
But you'd need to take into consideration that the only people who said no are those that would need to fly in from out of state. Also I had a couple people who decided not to bring their guest. So basically every single person that I THOUGHT would come IS. So if I hadn't given a 'guest' to certain people and if I'd only invited those from NY, it would have been basically 95% of my invites responding Yes. So it's hard to say what you should be expecting.

Re: % of how many responded NO
we invited 180 and 125 actually came - so about 40% in our case- we had a lot of drop-outs the week of the wedding (like 10 & then 6 no-shows)

Re: % of how many responded NO
We invited 225. We had 160 respond yes. We invited alot of out of state people, and it was Thanksgiving weekend. And about 5 people didnt show on the wedding day. People just conveniently didnt bring their date, someone was sick, one of their dates stood them up, etc.
So just be sure to give your final headcount at least 5 less than the # that actually respond yes.

Re: % of how many responded NO
we invited 230 and our final count came to 164 2 people just dropped out last night (understandable reasons)
but we also invited like 6 other people that we didn't invite in the first place (thanks to freaking FIL's )
so I would say about 30-40%
but everyone is different, abby invited 201 and got more people to come to her wedding and I invited more but mine is closer to xmas so it also depends on that.

Re: % of how many responded NO
We had about 20%. We had a few the week of and that day -- but they all called and had extremely valid reasons.
20% is ususally the average.

Re: % of how many responded NO
I had invited 172, and 136 came - and I think that works out to about 22% decline rate.

Re: % of how many responded NO
We invited 220 and had about 170. So I'd say a little more than 20%.
There are few things you have to factor in.
Distant relatives Out of towners Singles invited with guest (almost all who replied for 2 at the last minute changed to)
You can kinda have an idea of who will come and who will not.

Re: % of how many responded NO
we invited 270 and had about 180 come.
We invited a lot of OOT guests (about 50 out of state), most of which we knew wouldn't be able to make it.
You need to really sit down and look at your list - I would try applying that 15% rule to the people that you think might come or most likely will come. in order to get a better idea. I'm glad I left lots of room with my minimum, because we did get much more no's than expected.

Re: % of how many responded NO
Actually they say 20-30% decline on average
I invited about 320-330 i forgot exactly since my dad gave invites to some i didnt have on guestlist originally lol and about 270-275 came. So in my situation the 20% rule worked

Re: % of how many responded NO
Oh wow... I am honestly shocked! Its funny because I got the 10-15% rate from 2 different wedding planners... but I trust what I hear on this board more than from a planner.
