Off season pricing

We went to look @ the place of my dreams for a reception (he loved it too!!!), but as we were discussing prices, I was given Sunday evening prices for a 4th of July weekday wedding. Does this seem right, when on their pricing list they say off season pricing is available? I was not sure how to approach this at the time, but how WOULD I go about it now? Regardless, the prices are reasonable anyway, but I was just wondering the right way to approach this. Thanks for any input!

I'm also getting married at Milleridge and wanted to know how you went about ordering your cake. Can you have any combination of cake/filling that you want or do they have a set list? Also, when did you order your cake?

Thanks for your help. (And best of luck on your wedding day!! I'm sure it will be spectacular!)

A lot of times holidays are treated as Sundays even if they are on a weekday. A friend of mine was quoted a Saturday evening price for a Sunday Evening on Labor Day weekend. It really depends on the individual place. They seem to each have different "off seasons." One place told me their prices are the same all year long except for December-March. Another place had lower prices October-April.

I'm having my reception at Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue. If you are looking to save $, I would recommend checking them out.

Sounds wonderful!

I guess it depends on the place. We are getting married this fourth of July for just that reason. We went to places and said we are willing to get married Tuesday July 4th what can you do? We got a great deal...10pp off the the Friday night/Sunday price. Best of all it is the Port Jeff CC so it will be at night overlooking the water on the 4th of July.

Some places it didn't matter that it was a weekday, make some calls you can find deals.

Hi Valerie: My wedding is on Memorial Day weekend, well, Friday, and I saved about 30-40 per head doing it on a Friday. They should be able to help you. Just ask; can't hurt right? Good Luck and let us know how it turned out.

Just wanted to say I went to PJCC last August, when we were looking at catering halls and the view is amazing!!! It happened to be a gorgeous day and it seemed so perfect for a wedding -they were in the process for setting up for an outdoor cocktail hour. I imagine you will be able to see the Port Jeff fireworks from there --very nice!

I loved the Port Jeff CC, but I couldn't afford it. Good luck!

Kate, we tried to book the same holiday weekend for 2001, and almost half of the places we looked at had been booked...some almost 2 years in advanced. We could have saved a lot of $$$.

As for Valerie, one place we looked at told us that there prices weren't flexible regardless if it was a holiday or not, so as Kate said, it can't hurt to ask!

I thought we were the only crazies looking to book 2 years in advance! I will definately ask about them taking something off, it can't hurt. By the way, if I hadn't mentioned it, we looked at the Eastwind (Country Gardens). I LOVE it! It is such a unique setup with the separate buildings ! Our big concern with picking there even though we both love it is the fireworks issue!! I don't know that there is a clear area for them to be done.(It is the one thing we hope to splurge on!Can't have a July 4th wedding without them!) Thanks guys!

I have been coming here since I was told the Web site began to exist. Enough said...and I have been through the most miserable time with the planning of my own wedding. I went through the months of researching catering halls. Picked one that would handle a small affair. Thought I was happy with them, booked a photographer, who I still adore, although I wont get to use him. Got a DJ and a florist. The whole nine yards.

I had to cancel my plans and was very upset. I came here to tell everyone and you all were great. Until I had real problems and actually came to the boards to tell others the names of the establishments that were un professional. Now I am far from a dumby, and have been through a wedding and a marrage in my past, so I have done all this already. When my caterer tryed to keep 3x the legal amount that they were entitled to keep I was basically told that I was the one who was wrong! I know the laws, I read the contracts, yet I was Bashed! Same thing with the florist, who I never got more then an estimate from, nobody signed anything, yet now she wants money from me when nothing was ever in writing other then exactly just that....an estimate!

Thanks for all the positive feedback on the PJCC, so far everyone I talked to has good things to say. Just hope the weather holds out to take advantage of the view and fireworks!
