Off the shoulder dresses & limited arm movement?

Off the shoulder dresses & limited arm movement?

I realized at my last fitting that I have limited arm movement in my off the shoulder dress. Is there any way around this? I have a second fitting this week and was hoping to talk to the seamstress about it. The irony is that I specifically didn't want a strapless dress because I thought I'd be uncomfortable, but that might happen anyway. Any suggestions?

My dress is also off the shoulder and when I was measured, she took the circumference of my arm to make sure the arms wouldn't be too tight. My boobs are fairly large so the dress size is bigger than I normally wear - she told me I won't have a problem with the arms.

Mary, not sure if its a crazy idea, but is it possible to pick up the sleaves from off shoulder and put them 'on shoulder'? My dress was slightly off shoulder and it didn't bother me at all.

Not knowing the style of the dress, could you slip some elastic into the off-the-shoulder part?

My MOH went for a fitting this weekend and had the same problem. I believe the only solution for this is to raise the sleeves higher on the shoulder. However, you have to be careful if you have 'work' on the sleeves because they may stick out as opposed to lay flat as they would on the arm. SUggest it to the seamstress, she will tell you if it will work.

To give you an idea of what it looks like, here's a picture from my first fitting:

i have the exact same kind of dress and the same concern. i'm going for my second fitting in two weeks, so i'll finally be able to feel how tight they are. hopefully it's not too bad. sorry no advice, but i sympathize with your problem. just ask the seamstress for suggestions, i'm sure she can come up with something.
