I figured since we all are trying to lose weight or stay in shape and sometimes can't figure out what to have for lunch / dinner we all should post healthy recipes. That way when we are looking for something to cook we can check here.
What do you think?

for breakfast i love egg white wraps...its eggwhites, turkey bacon, fat free swiss on whole wheat wrap and its delicious, recently FH got me eggwhites turkey and fresh mozzarella with tomatoes on whole wheat which was also real good. At work alot of times ill make myself toast with peanut butter, peanut butter is a good snack too

Lunch, ill get turkey, swiss, lettuce on whole wheat bread with mustard...eggwhites, turkey, swiss on whole wheat bread...Grilled chicken salad but bc what dressing you use, most dressings are worst than alot of food out there.
Tuna but i use mustard instead with lemon and celery or green onions.

Dinner
Again grilled chicken salad is good. Grilled chicken with steamed vegetables and ill add lemon juice, peppers to the vegetables or you can cook it in olive oil and garlic for some flavor. You can do chicken fajitas with whole wheat pita and add red onions, green peppers and some cheese. I also love organic food and get whole wheat pasta with organic penne sauce. Grilled shrimp in olive oil and garlic, and sometimes ill cook it with whole wheat pasta. Chicken shishkebobs

oranges are a great snack bc they fill you up and hold you over until your next meal

eat yogurt, healthy cereals, protein bars, nutri grain bars. Organic eggs are delicious and better than regular eggs, they also have chicken cold cuts that are very good.

If you want to keep your blood sugar levels up so you're not hungry btw. breakfast and lunch multi grain cereals are really good for you. I eat a lot of organic food and ever since i switched to multi grain cereal and organic FF milk I am not hungry btw. my breakfast and lunch. I do eat a fruit sometimes in btw. just to keep my metabolism moving.

I have a whole cookbook of 'heart healthy' meals that I got when I walked in the American Heart Assoc. Heartwalk. FH's dad and uncle both passed away from heart attacks way too early, so Im all about us eating healthy and staying fit. I will have to go look through the book and post some yummy ones!

I make an icebox cake with reduced fat grahams, coolwhip free and low fat jello pudding. Its good if you want something sweet!

This is such a good idea!!!

Breakfast I usually eat low fat vanilla yogurt with almonds or granola. Sometimes I switch it up with 3 egg whites and 1 piece of turkey and piece of cheese with a piece of whole wheat toast.

Ill snack on some fruit or nuts ( sometimes I will mix in a handfull of raisinettes for some chocolate fix), granola bars, mozzarella cheese sticks, jello snacks or low fat pudding.

lunch is usually a salad with some protien-beans, chicken, slices of steak. I like adding canned veggies like corn. then add the traditional fixings with some oil and balsamic vinegar.

Dinner usually varies, but I stick to one serving and each food ( veggies, protien, starches) is no bigger then my fist. ( this is a great WW trick and it really works!!)

for snack, I make my own ice pops out of fruit juices or I snack on WW pudding pops ( 1 point each!!). I will add one teaspoon of chocolate chips to some peanut butter and eat it with an apple or some celery.

Also, what I find is that if I am craving something, I take a taste of it and I am ok....if I deprive myself of anything...then I want to bindge on it.
( This works for me bc I can stop myself but can become risky...lol)

HTH!!

good luck ladies!

Mmm, we put salsa on EVERYTHING! Its a great fat free salad dressing and definitely spices up any recipe that calls for tomatoes or tomato sauce!

Also, switching mayonaise or sour cream with nonfat yogurt works in a lot of recipes and I can barely tell the difference! I do it all the time and FH never knows that he's eating healthier

Weightwatcher.com has some really good recipes as well.

I usually use a WW cook book I have, its ancient but does the job.

Also for cakes , you can usually use applesauce instead of oil. It depends on the recipe but usually comes out pretty good. I've tried that a few times.

Anyone have any good recipes for people with high-cholesterol. Doc said mine is at 247 and hes giving me 3 months before he puts me on prescription meds (which I HATE). I didnt think I was eating that bad but I love eggs, cheeses, and my delicious Puerto Rican food.

Foods low in saturated fat include fat-free or 1percent dairy products, lean meats, fish, skinless poultry, whole grain foods, and fruits and vegetables. Look for soft margarines (liquid or tub varieties) that are low in saturated fat and contain little or no trans fat (another type of dietary fat that can raise your cholesterol level). Limit foods high in cholesterol such as liver and other organ meats, egg yolks, and full-fat dairy products. Good sources of soluble fiber include oats, certain fruits (such as oranges and pears) and vegetables (such as brussels sprouts and carrots), and dried peas and beans.

Eat a LOT of oatmeal (worked for me) or try taking fish oil. That's supposed to lower cholesterol as well.
