Hi guys!
So glad I found this thread!!!
Getting married next September in Huntington LI and already beginning to freak out about the details.
One of my biggest concern is Hair and Make-up.
I read the Bridalgal.com reviews on this thread and it definitely seems like an option but it is pricey. If I do my entire bridal party that's over $2000! Yikes.
Anyone know of any good hair people that are familiar with not relaxed African American hair?
Best,
Somi
If you go to Lilly (from bridalgal) for a trial (& like her work) talk to her & she may cut you a deal...she tries to work with her clients. She maybe able to refer you to someone who is less expen$ive.
You can also have ur BM pay for their own make up (at least a portion of it)
Also try your local MAC store...get a makeover if you like the artist ask them if they will do your wedding. (outside the store)

I am using the same girl that has been doing my hair for years. I wouldnt trust my hair to anyone else. She is great and owns her own shop in Baldwin LI. She can do anything you have in mind. Shes also great with fusion. FM me if you would like her info.

I saw a post on here with a lady who had dreads who was looking for a stylist. I'll see if I can hunt down it for you. And congratulations on your engagement!!!

Re: Official African American Brides Thread
This thread has been slow the last few weeks-I'm back and trying to pick a venue-where is everyone getting married?
already visited Fox Hollow; Jericho Terrace; Verdis of Wbury; Villa Lombardi; Milleridge Inn; Marriot of melville. Still going to see Douglaston Manor; Swan club; Crest Hollow; Watermill; Larkfield manor. But we live in queens and aren't trying to go too far out on the island so we'll probably cross Villa Lombardi; Watermill & Larkfield off the list just b/c of the location...

I would give my thumbs up to Jericho Terrace, Fox Hollow, Swan Club and the Crest Hollow!!!
If your looking for something closer to Queens, I would check out Jericho Terrace. What room was you considering at J.T?

Went to Fox HOllow-they were nice but they wanted a higher pp price than we're comfortable with PLUS they wanted our minimum to be what is our absolute maximum amt of guests to invite-so it would be a her pp price AND a higher # of guests...our of our budget.
I loved Jericho Terrace but a good friend of FH got married there 2 years ago and he doesn't want to do our reception there too!
I'm going to Swan Club & Cresthollow next week.
Anyone have any opinions on the Swan Club? I'm sure the pictures don't do it justice. I just noticed someone's picture and the ceiling the ceiling tiles needed replacement...but I'm going next week so I'll look at it in detail and speak with a BM about pricing & availability.
