i'm going to my first ever salon appointment tomorrow....getting my legs, and vajay jay, and arms, and underarms waxed....getting a facial....a massage....mani/pedi...and hair cut.............i'm soooo nervous about the waxing though.....and very embarrassed that im going to have to be there completely naked!![]()
any tips from girls who have done this?
wait... y r u getting all dolled up? is this a practice run?
yea, it's a trial run...i want to see how my skin will react and how long it'll last for. if it goes well, i might actually start going on a regular basis...in the hope that it grows back thinner. + I have my annual physical and my first gyn appointment coming up, hehe. i haven't gotten a hair cut since before my engagement party so i'm getting a trim now....and probably another 2 weeks before the wedding.

Wow your going to be all dolled up tom. Yeah this past sunday i got a haircut last time before the wedding and maybe before honeymoon I will trim it again.
I done brazalians before and absolutely love it! I would recommend you go to a place extremely clean and professional.
i go to http://www.shobhathreading.com/
They have 3 locations in the city and they are professional and clean. The only weird thing is they are all indian. But, it makes me kinda comfortable cause they are friendly. They have a no double dipping policy meaning once they dip the spatula in the wax and apply it they throw it out and use a new one. So no one ever gets containmenated(sp). That means no bacteria is growing in the wax. Plus the use a special type of wax and its great for sensitive skin.
Where are you going for your facial and massage? I need to get these done also.
don't worry it will be fine tom. Enjoy the pampering and pop two advils or take a shot of rum!![]()
I'm going to T. Carltons....it's in suffolk county...not too far from stony brook...i'm having everything done there....definitely taking a bottle of advil with me, haha

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
oh wow! I like the no double dipping policy, sounds very clean! I was thinking of going to Shobha's since i've heard so much about it.. i do have sensitive skin when it comes to waxing..i had such a horrible experience the first time i got waxing done that i have never gotten it after that! It all depends on where you go, as well as ur skin type. Brazilian sounds like the thing to go for, but im soooooooo scared! lol

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
yeah the hair definately grows back less and thinner. Brazialians are bit scary but afterwards your smooth like a baby! I would give it a try. I been doing it for years now and i love it! but, no matter how long i been doing it i am still nervous each time

Have you guys gone to Bliss for waxing or facials? I have a bunch of gift certificates that i wanted to save for that kind of stuff around the wedding.

Hey Girls,I have a question about the bridal shower. Besides the women in groom's family, do you need to invite the aunties attending the wedding on their side? I don't think so, but I was curious.
Thanks

i've only threaded my upper lip and eyebrows, but i son;t think it would be so bad having everything threaded. safer than waxing!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
When you get it done tell them your nervous and its your first time. They talk to you to keep you busy. I am not going to lie it hurts the first time. But, afterward oh man its soo nicee. The pain last about 5-10mins afterwards. But the rose water they apply does the cure for me.

what do you mean use any of their decor? they didnt offer anything, if we do, its an extra charge. And im kinda annoyed that they dont even offer a cake! a lot of wedding halls do that, but of course this one doesnt lol nnow i gotta look for a cake too. oh yeah and as far as the writing sample, i know i def have to check it twice! lol they tend to spell things differently or better yet, not proofread! lol
Sorry for the late reply, Dulhan
Sterling have some decor. like the pier, chairs, Mandaps. They might not have so many choices like House of Dipali or Elegant affairs but their price is a lot cheaper. You should ask your BM they have a photo album for you to choose from.
and i was annoyed that Sterling didn't have a cake but i guess they don't want to take away the fire thing for the desert table.
and also yes, those people in india like to correct your spelling, they revised our direction card with some funny name street and city.. I don't know why. such as they change Long Island to Long Ireland.
