hey guys..i just saw something on this thread about the bed and breakfast. ...just a heads up here....

the only people allowed to even step foot into the band b are the bride and groom and only are allowed in after the wedding is over. i wanted to have the groomsmen get ready there befreo the wedding and/or have poeple over there after...it is completely not allowed, my parents werent even able to bring our bags over and say goodbye. you have to actually sign something stating that.

Also, are they going to contact me to do the final menu or am I supposed to be in touch with them? It's getting so close, I'm freaked.

Hey Ladies,

Does anyone know what the menu that the Inn offer looks like?. I'm trying to cost down instead of doing them myself.

Hmm, I don't know what the menu looks like, but I know their seating cards and direction cards were pretty neutral. I'm sure they are along the same lines. Let me see if I can find a pic - a friend of mine got married there and sent me her pics . . .

We aren't diy'ing any of these things - I need to simplify my life!!

ETA - OK, I just looked at her shutterfly album again and I can't copy the picture, but the menu is like a long narrow piece of cardstock, in ivory, with an ivory ribbon at the top edge. It says 'The Inn at New Hyde Park', their names, the dates, and then lists the options. Very nice and elegant.

Thanks so much! I thought I was going crazy. If it's neutral then fine. I don't think the guest will care about the menu cards that much.

Honestly, before I started planning a wedding, and this is JMO, I never paid any attention to things like the menus, place cards, or table numbers. I just can't devote any energy to those things, especially when the Inn is providing them, they are elegant and simple and just fine! HTH!

Girls I had a friend bring me home a menu...haha she was there for a wedding last April. They are neutral ivory with black writing and I could be wrong with this but there is a ribbon on the top and I believe you can change the color. There is a picture of it in the photogallery on the Inn's website. Also I had Jeanine take a picture of the table number and email it to me hahaha so if I could figure out how to get it from my phone to computer on a regular upload I can post it. But its very generic and pretty, black table like tent and ivory with black writing. It isn't like a cheese big card with a number on it....very nice. But I completely agree why spend money on seating cards, menus and table numbers....they do such a beautiful job! If I was a millionaire....haha well thats a different story!!

Hi Ladies,

Back from my tasting and all I can say is WOW what a lot of food! And I'm stuffed! :)

Everything was great, they gave us three appetizers (eggplant rollatini, fried calamari, and baked clams). Then there was the salad course, which was called the Inn salad, and had bleu cheese, walnuts, pears and greens with a raspberry vinigrette. Then for the main course we got to try ALL 7 well actually 8 main dishes, that your guests will chose from. Then for dessert they gave us a variety of cheesecake, tiramusu, chocolate mousse cake and some fruit, so crazy how much food there was, but everything was delicious!

Def have nothing to worry about ladies. The best part is we got to walk around the Inn again. Since I have not been there since August when we booked, I saw the bridal suite, cocktail hour room, the outside area and it made me fall in LOVE all over again!

Also, we met with Jenine, who by the way is pregnant and due in June, but she said she won't be gone long since she lives around the block lol.

It was a great day and makes me SO excited that 3 months from today I will be getting married there! :)

hahaha I was there too for my tasting and it was so great! I don't have to repeat a word!! And is'nt Jeanine the cutest prego person ever!!

Girls what are your thoughts on the uplighting? We went into the ballroom to see them setting up for a wedding yesterday of 280...this bride and groom chose only 12 tops and 14 tops for her tables so to me the room looked a little tight. I am not even inviting 280 so I am not worried. Just an FYI for girls with big weddings....the big tables all the way might not be the best idea. Might want to do all sizes if possible.

But back to the uplighting. They were setting it up to and what I didn't love is that the light panels are just sitting on the floor against the wall and then its plugged into an outlit. Wasn't a huge fan of seeing this giant lights just chillin on the floor however I want to maybe to the uplighting. Could it be that they just weren't finished setting it up or is that I am being reallllllly to annal? hahaha thoughts?

I am going to get the uplighting. I didn't even think of getting it until I saw that way the lights looked at one of the showcases. I didn't even think to look at the bases of the lights on the floor, but I don't think they would bother me. I think the lights added a lot to the room and especially looked nice since the room is so big. Hope this helps!

Thanks! This does help. Fh and I are seriously thinking of using uplighting because I hear it changes the mood of the room.

Ok now I feel some what relieved! I am an Inn Bride as well and have been hearing some not so good things about the food. I went to a wedding here last August and thought everything was amazing but then my Fiance and I went with our families for New Years Eve and it was terrible. Then i just heard friend that they went to a fund raiser here and it was not good either. Ive been freaking out wondering if I made the wrong choice but judging by your opinion I seem to be ok! I just hope everything turns out well. We come from Italian families that know good food so I hope everything at the Inn lives up to their expectations!!!

Is anyone not staying at the B&B that the Inn offers?

What hotel did you all book your room block in? Everything seems to be prettyy expensive and/or pretty far!

To answer teh PP, we are going to try to check out the B&B before deciding, but if we don't like it, we might go with the GC hotel or the Inn at FH

We blocked off rooms at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale by Nassau Coliseum. It's about 15 minutes away and it had a great space for an after party. We are having a day wedding so we wanted to have an informal after party that night, and the Marriott has a really large lounge area with a bar and couches that is open until 10pm and then there is Champions bar that is in the hotel that stays open until 2 am. Our rate was $159 per night which is a little high, but all the others nearby was way more money.

Hope that helps! :)
