Since I've seen these going around for a bunch of venues, I figured I'd add one for the Riviera.
Here's a place where all us Rivierans (yes just made that up) can talk about anything and everything regarding our upcoming weddings at the Riviera.
Past Brides: we'd LOVE to hear about your experiences there as well and if you can give us any pointers in planning our big days there
Ok ladies... Ready... Set... GO!

Does anyone happen to know of the Riviera has bathroom baskets?
If not.. how necessary do you think they are??

Wow I don't remember if they did or not.. but I think it's very important. I always wind up using 'Something' outof one of those baskets at a wedding. Usually hair spray

They didn't have any bathroom baskets there when we went, and it was set up for a wedding. My mom is going to make some for us.

I too am out of money... (and not sleeping at night!!)
and honestly, I think the last few weddings I went to there wasn't bathroom baskets...
While I'd love to do it.. Oy. not so sure I can..
I dont think it's tacky to do it up simple.. hairspray, mouth wash and maybe a tide stick... That may be the way I'm going!

Hey everyone!
FI and I are 99% positive we are going to book the Riviera! I was wondering if anyone else plans on trying to cover the big tapestries? They really bother me. I just feel like they area bit of an eye sore =(
Also, did you guys do your hotel block yet? I haven't checked out the hotel they work with that does the free shuttle for guests. I believe its a Marriot. Is the hotel nice?
I'm so excited to book our wedding! Its just such a beautiful location!

The tapestries didnt' really bother me, I think they lend to the charm of the place... but I'm sure there are ways to cover them.
We booked the Courtyard Marriott in Farmingdale, and they will offer a shuttle if there are 10 or more rooms booked...
I also know of people who booked the Best Western in Massapequa.. but not sure of the shuttle status for that!

We ended up blocking with the Hampton Inn in Garden City because it was the best rate for our OOT guests. FH's entire side of the wedding is coming down from Oswego/Syracuse/Buffalo areas so we wanted it to be as little as possible for them. But I've heard really good things about the Marriott Courtyard as well!

I just booked with the Hilton in Melville and the Best Western on Sunrise Highway. They were both super helpful. I have a lot of guests coming in from the UK (where I'm from) so I need a lot of rooms. Hilton told me their shuttle wouldn't go to the Riviera as it was too far out. I don't know about the Best Western shuttle though, we booked one independently so it will pick up and drop off at both hotel locations.
I called the Marriott a couple of weeks ago and they told me I couldn't book rooms for my date yet. That kind of irritated me and since I'd read some bad reviews of it, I just went with the Hilton instead.

Yaay! So love this post I just began my venue search, but I really love the Riviera. I was concerned about the lighting, as it is quite dark, but I love the suggestions. Who is the house DJ, or the DJ that is familiar with the venue, as they will know how to enhance the lighting?
Is there any room for negotiation. To increase the stations or add extras?
Also, has anyone seen how their food/stations are arranged? Is it nice-as in eye catching and classy?
So excited, thanks lovelies

I just got married there last month and we used long island sound who does a lot of weddings there.....we used the uplighting around the dance floor to brighten it up at night.....we didnt really negotiate price but they threw in a ton of extras so it made the $ worth it.
