I went and finalized my menu about 3 weeks ago. We upgraded the cake to a plain 4 tier white cake and I am having ribbons put around the base and flowers at the top. They charged me $15 for the extra tier.

My price for a Friday night in November was $80pp but then w/ everything we added it came to $112 pp before tax & tip.

i had a pic of a 3 tier square choc. cake
with choc. outside and sugar rolled fruits
or marzipan they wanted $800 for an upgrade
I could get a cake in the city for that kind of $$

Let's just say I have been an unhappy camper this last week b/c I didn't want to spend that kind of $ on a cake...

Re: Official Sans Souci thread...do we have one?

i got it from the knot
will try and post it later - it's basic - I showed it to a friend who works in a bakery & she was surprised...

i will have them make me the cake w/ butter cream frosting and they will sift cocoa powder to gift it a dusted look...
i didn't do any upgrades...so it makes me wonder what is going on w/an $800 cake...

I'm doing the brunch menu on Sunday morning (in October) ... 41.00 pp + tax & tip. (its a buffet - which is how we got that price)There will be a few upgrades to that - but I haven't worked it out yet. I was a little worried when I read the posts about the cake!

Good Luck ! Sans Souci is a GREAT place.

Don't be worried I was just wondering if anyone had the same experience as me...

I am sooo happy w/ the SSouci & the choice that I made to have it there
Everyone raves about how different it is and yummy the food is...

I am sure it'll all work out w/ the cake -things generally do work out - but I was surprised at the price only b/c the cake isn't that elaborate - but I will work it it w/ them...

Brunch sounds great - we didn't think of that !!

Re: Official Sans Souci thread...do we have one?

Hi ladies,

I was wondering what your thoughts were on Sans Souci for those of you whom already had their weddings there or have been to other weddings there. I am trying to make an appt. to see the place, if they ever pick up the phone. : I just have a few questions, if you don't mind:

Is there only 1 event at a time, even non-weddings?
How was the food?
What was the $$ per plate?
Was there a lot of street or boat traffic during your ceremony or CH, if you did it outside?
Does the Reception Room comfortably fit 100 - 120 people?
Are they right on the water or it alongside a road or shared property? I'm looking for a place with exclusive property on the water, if possible.

Thanks so much for any help!

i had my wedding there so i have only positive things to say...you have to call after 10 and not on mondays
they are there almost every week night until 9

1 event at a time
food - awesome - everyone raved
i paid $60 per plate + gratuities
no traffic at all - that road is not exactly hitraffic
i had 144 fitting comfortably
it's not actually 'on' the water - the water is on the other side of the road
but you see the water from the ceremony/ch area & from the windows

hope this helps you
did you see my pics? that might help you

I went there tonight. I didn't like the grounds so much.... There was so much traffic, but this was a weeknight, so I can let that go. However, I met with Nargas and she quoted me $100 a plate on a Sunday afternoon in April and she wants me to guarantee 110 people. What is she smoking? They offer only about 50% of the food that I've seen at other places and for much more money.

They must be changing their policies for 2006 rates. Oh well, can't win them all.

which menu was that for?
100 was my guarantee
guess the rates are going up
the grounds you mean all the grass and flowers?

daryl, your pictures are gorgeous! you look so beautiful.

I think the Sans Souci thread might be the wrong place to get unbiased opinions about the grounds, food, etc., as we obviously are partial to it since everyone here got married/will be getting married there.

I can tell you though that I had my wedding at 5:30 on a Thursday evening and the traffic was barely heard at all especially since my minister used a microphone. We had a classical guitarist for the ceremony and cocktail hour and everyone heard him fine.

Our guests are still talking about the food, how it was so good and not typical catering hall overkill - the chilean sea bass was to die for and everyone said how good the filet was. I mean serious ranting lol. And how the wedding itself was not the usual Long Island over the top blowout. Words like elegant, classy, understated keep coming up. People really felt it was different and one of the most elegant affairs they've been to. Not just telling me but telling each other.

But like I said, I'm biased.
