Officiant

Officiant

Can you please recommend your officiant. My fiance, for some odd reason, insists on a man only. I don't understand it and found a wonderful woman but he is uncomfortable with it. Anyway, I've contacted Tom McCormick, Pastor Mike, Rev. Jackson and Rev Joe. All of which are not available on that day. If you have any one different you can recommend, please do so.

Thanks,
Val

We're using Father Bob Allmen. Our friends used him and were pleased with him. He seems nice.

mine too! But we are meeting with April anyway, and hopefully he'll come around. If not, though, April said she can recommend some male colleagues that are also good. She was not at all insulted either, said she gets it often and completely understands.

i'm assuming you are talking about April. if not, contact her:
churchofancientways.org.
maybe she can recommend her guys to you, too.

Good luck. i have this notebooked, so let me know if you find anyone great!

Re: Officiant

Thanks, no I was talking about Rev. Deb. She sounds great and was highly recommended on here. There are some battles I have to give in on. Just curious though, did you fiance have a solid reason for wanting a man? Mine really couldn't explain exactly why , ' Just because...' was all I got. I think he's concerned about what his father/brothers/friends will think which is ridiculous in my opinion!!

Anyway, Rev. Mike Callaghan just responded that he is available on our date and he got so much positive feedback on here too. I'm excited to meet with him.

My FH and I met with a disaterous amount of officiants. We chose rev. Donald Doctor from Massapequa. He made us feel the most comfortable.

We both decided we didn't want a female officiant either.

he is very kind and soft spoken, not puchy and his price is the most affordable of any of the other officiants.

good luck!

no, he doesn't really have a reason. i think it's just an image in his head, but he did agree to meet with her anyway, so i think he might come around.
i can kinda see where he's coming from, though. i mean, i'd never really thought about it before...i don't think it matters to me either way.

(my mom keeps teasing him and calling him a chauvinist pig, which is funny because he's very much NOT like that.)

ha ha, I hear you on that. He totally blew me out of the water with this...but like you, when I sat down and thought about it, I guess I had always pictured a male performing the ceremony but I really don't care either way!! I just want someone with a personality, who is well spoken, kind and funny. Anyway, we're meeting with Rev. Mike, Bob Allman and Rev. Nick over the next two weeks. They all sound awesome on the phone...I'm sure we'll be able to agree on one.

Good luck!!!

When my son got married, he and my DIL had Rev. Don perform the ceremony. Although they had only spoken on the phone as they live out of town, you would have thought that Rev. Don had personally known them. So many of the guests came up and said how wonderful he was.

I'm surprised and dismayed by the people discussed in this thread who didn't want to have a female officiant.

DH and I also used Judge William Corbett. We were pleased with his work. Please FM me if you want more information.

(FTR, we used him because we wanted an entirely secular wedding and the ceremony to be presided by someone with no religious training.)

We are also having Fr. Bob Allmen. We are meeting with him next week. You may want to call the rectory and leave a message. He didn't respond to my email. He calls back right away. (631)728-2633

yes the ceremony will be both sacramental and legal. He mentioned that he will meet us near where we live so we don't have to travel to him.
