hello all....haven't been on here much....sooooo busy with work....but we're now in the realm of finding an officiant....we went to meet one this past weekend. nice enough guy, but my fiance (who says he doesn't care who we got) said he'd prefer the officiant to have some sense of humor!! i guess the rev. we met was just a tad too serious and formal for our tastes.
so....does anyone have any suggestions? thanks much!! :)

the one at TWOTY seemed very nice/not overly serious. I believe her name was Alison Caciola... a vendor on here.

I'd just caution against using someone with too much of a 'sense of humor.' I was at a wedding where the officiant kept joking about how the couple already lives together and have obviously already had 'alone time' etc etc. It was highly inappropriate. If I was the bride I would have been FUMING.

oh i totally understand that.....but the person we met this past w/e barely cracked a smile during the 45 minutes we were there.....we want someone to make us feel comfy....we're going to be so stressed that day, a smile and a friendly voice would help soooo much! :)

We are using Rev. Deb Viola (she's a vendor on here). She is SUCH a sweetheart and though I am not positive about her sense of humor, she was SOOOO easy to get along with. I can't wait for her to perform our service!

You have to find the right person for your ceremony. The person who married my cousin was telling totally inappropriate jokes throughout the ceremony, and kept calling the bride 'Eric', when her name is Erin. He was a total train wreck.
We are using Rabbi Stein/Father Thomas McCormick, who are a great team and they are light hearted.
If you happen to be Greek, there is a fabulous priest at the St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox church in Greenlawn, Rev Dr. Moraitis. My two friends got married there, and he is hearwarming, delightful, real and has a few jokes throughout his homily. They are totally appropriate jokes for a ceremony, and everyone I talked to said how much they loved him and they loved how he performed the ceremony. I highly recommend him, in fact, I wish I were Greek Orthodox so I could get married there. The church it self is also stunning.

You should try Minister Keith at www.NYMarriages.com
He's extremely well-spoken and has an incredible sense of humor. My sister used him and we're using him as well.
He made us feel relaxed from the moment we met him. He asked about the history as a couple in an attempt to get to know us as people.

We worked with Rob Rosenberger, who also specializes in interfaith and multicultural ceremonies for our wedding. I think you will both enjoy working with him. We had such a great time working with him. He was very friendly and laid-back and assist us with personalized readings and vows for our ceremony. I would highly recommend him! One of my BM's used Pastor Mike... I believe he is a vendor on here... She was very happy with him. She said when they were working with him he was very personable and likeable and that after the ceremony people kept telling her what a great job he did...
