Officiants....

Officiants....

We had our friend ordained so that he can marry us, since FH and I are not religious, but now he is going to be out of the country for grad school and won't be able to perform the ceremony for us. I was wondering, can I get some sort of priest or someone who will marry us at the reception site? I heard that priests won't marry you out of the church. Our grandparents are flipping alittle since we were both raised Catholic and they want a priest to marry us. We don't care either way and thought we might as well since this seems like a sign. What are those of you doing if you are getting married at the reception hall?

My boss is actually marrying us at the hall (she is a marriage officiant). This was very good for us, since we don't have to go and interview officiants, and she will be at the wedding anyway!

We were thinking of having someone else ordained, but honestly, it's one more thing for me to worry about, I want someone who's done it before.

I'm getting married outside at EastWind and we're using Fr/Rev. Joseph N. DeVincenzo.
They're a vendor on here.

He was very friendly when me and FI met with him.
The whole ceremony is personalized, you pick out all the verses, vows, and readings.

We are having a priest and a rabbi. I'm pretty sure that most priests will only perform a ceremony outside of the church if it is an interfaith wedding.

Do you mind if I ask how much you have to pay for their services?

Re: Officiants....

My FMIL is marrying us. She is a priest in the American Catholic church..which would probably make your catholic family fall over. But, she'll do it! And, she'll do it however you want to, it can be 'spiritual' rather than religious, or religious.

prncssrachel, Rev, Janine is about 400-500 dollars. That's more affordable than a church 'donation'!
