I was shocked when she told me the price, it was hundreds more than I was expecting. Then it turns out that since my parents are members, it was free!

Re: Officiants!!!!
In the town of Brookhaven any elected official can officiate the wedding and they cannot charge more than $75 from what I understand. We had a judge do it for free :)

I called Islip town hall because that's where I am getting married. Ask for the clerks office and they can fax you over a list of officiants Good luck

Re: Officiants!!!!
I am usually very budget conscious but when it comes to the officiant I made sure we found someone perfect, who turned out to be Rev. Deb. I figured it is the part where we actually get married, and I want it to be perfect. Her prices are not outrageous, not sure if you've looked into her. We are having her custom write our ceremony, and paying just under $500, but she has other options that are less expensive. HTH!

Re: Officiants!!!!
I literally threw up in my mouth when I got my first quote....I am not paying that much $$$ for a 12 min ceremony...I'd rather pay someone I know to get ordained online lol

My Fiance and I are having a Priest and a Rabbi (interfaith) and let me tell you that we are paying $900 each...don't even get me started...that is up from the $750 we were being qouted by another guy but just really like the rabbi...Our ceremony with fees and decorations is going to be close to $4000...so frustrated!

Re: Officiants!!!!
how do you get info for finding judges? I have ministers in the family, but won't do it bc I'm not having a religious ceremony

Re: Officiants!!!!
You can always have someone close to you get ordained and perform the ceremony....
That's what we did ...a way to have my now SIL involved in the wedding... and it Nassau/Suffolk, its super easy.... All they have to do is go online, get ordained for free... perform the ceremony and mail the signed marriage certificate in with in 5 days of the wedding.
The hardest thing was writing the ceremony, but there are plenty of links etc to help with that.
Cost to us - a gift for her to say Thank you... and it really did create a very special moment!

Re: Officiants!!!!
We're having one of our best friends get licsences and then perform the wedding. Well write the ceremony ourself, which might be a headache....but were just gonna pay for his certificant and thats it!
