So one of my best girlfriends from college just got engaged and asked me to be her Maid of honor in her wedding and I am so excited about it! However, I just found out that its probably going to be this July!!! And she lives in maryland, her family is from NJ and all of us BMs are everywhere in between! I'm gonna have to get moving on some stuff and I don't even know where to begin?! I've never been the maid of honor before. Any words of advice ladies??

Take a deep breath and ask her what she needs help with. Then I would try to contact her mom and other BMs to try to coordinate the wedding showe (if possible). Most of all, just be supportive.

CONGRATULATIONS! I know it's going to be A LOT of work but it'll be fun. My only advice to you is this : I was in a BP where there were many OOT'ers and I got an e-mail never the less from the maid of honor basically just requesting $ (a set amount that SHE had decided). I had NEVER had contact with her - I didn't even know she existed. I was not toooo happy but I kept my mouth shut and I don't think I was the only one. She eventually didn't end up being her MOH. SOOOO please just make contact with the girls first and introduce yourself and let them feel included (even if you have the last say) before you start hitting them up for cash.

The one thing we have going is that all of the bridesmaids went to college together so at least we're close and I'm not going to have to coordinate getting random people together. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for your input

Oh Janelle!! That means that you're going to have soooo much fun!!! It's going to be like a big old reunion. The bachelorette party is sure to be the best!!! Enjoy being MOH!!!
Have fun, stay orgainizied and start now! Is there a better way to spend this snowy weekend??? Just sit at your computers with IM's and phone calls email each other ideas and enjoy it!
have fun I loved being the Maid of Honor at my sisters wedding its was so fun to see her all excited over everything we did for her!

My best friend is getting married in May, and I'm getting married in March of the same year. She's my maid of honor, and I'll be her matron of honor. I'm happy it worked out this way, so we can go through the same things at the same time.

the best thing that i can possibly tell you is to take a deep breathe, and ask her what you can help her with and tell her that you are there for her if anything should happen.

Everyone in the bridal party seems so enthusiastic. For most of us this is the first time in a friends wedding so its kind of exciting. As soon as she sets a definate date we can get everything rolling. Thanks again ladies.....

I am SFP0214 (July 05)'s MOH....and I am nervous too!
But I am sure you will do a good job..as will I. When you care about someone, you'll do whatever it takes. I've been thinking of fun things and talking to some girls (trish, if you are reading this go away!) and I can't wait to truly start planning some FUN!
