Something posessed me to look over at my calendar over here, and I saw that the date that FH's cousin is getting married is a Friday.
Normally, that wouldn't be a major issue, I would be able to take off. HOWEVER, this particular friday is during the week that literally, of my 8 person office, only 3 of us are going to be in due to vacations, and I am the only one that can handle sales. So no way I'm going to be able to go to the church, and the reception is very far away so no way I'm going to be able to leave early to get there in time, or if I do go, will be so late will probably miss half of it.
This is going to cause major flipping family drama like you do not believe

Re: Oh boy...
A friend of mine from HS got married last year in NYC and her RH was Fox Hollow on a Friday. FH & I both got off from work (for nothing bc) I drove into the city and couldn't find parking, missed the ENTIRE ceremony.....then sat in what seemed like hours of traffic from midtown to Fox Hollow and I made it about midway through cocktail hr. She was so understanding. Sorry you are going though this. Hopefully they will understand.

I don't know if this will help but can FH just go without you so that the family sees him there and he can explain to them why you can't make it?

Re: Oh boy...
As expected, I am being 'rude'. Because it's my fault that this is a workday, and that people have jobs. And that I should tell everyone here to reschedule their vacas
So now I'm being accused of really just not wanting to go and using this as my excuse, and that we already 'insulted' them by not having an eparty (which we did not get a gift for even though we went to theirs and gave a gift, so how am I being insulting here???), and now I am going to insult them even further by not being able to attend the wedding, during a work day.
I'm just never going to win in this family. It's depressing, because I will always come last.
Oh, this is a third cousin by the way. And I'm being made to feel like a piece of shiz for it. Nice.

I am so sorry you are going through this....it just ***** when people don't truly understand why you can't do something.
I go through the same thing with FH and his family...it's a VERY negative part of our relationship.
And I know exactly how you feel when you say you will always come last in the family...I feel the same way with FH's family.
It's hard but keep your chin up and at least YOU know why you cannot make it.
Hang in there!

Re: Oh boy...
Oh nooooooo is this the same one who didnt give you a gift, but you got them a gift? Oh man, hopefully you can continue to explain to Fh that there is nothing you can do about work....but that you will try to make it there even for part of the reception. How far away is it? Is it realistic to drive there for part of the reception and then drive back after its over. I know as much as it would suck to make it there- with the way his family acts.... it might be better than not showing up at all. If you dont show up at all, I can see that causing more drama...that you def. dont need. Im so sorry you are going through this Ali
What does FH say about this? Is he upset with you?
